The purpose of the Turley Oakley chapter of the National Honor Society is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in students of Kenwood High School. To become a member of this organization, students must meet the requirements set forth in the bylaws, and demonstrate an effort to achieve the tenants of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Students are selected for membership by majority vote of a 5-member Faculty Council, appointed annually by the principal, which bestows this honor upon qualified students on behalf of the faculty of our school each year in the fall.
Students in 10th and 11th grade are eligible for membership. For the scholarship criterion, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale Those students who meet this criterion are invited to complete all forms located in google classroom which provides the Faculty Council with information regarding the candidate’s leadership and service. A history of leadership experiences and participation in school or community service is also required.
