For students in grades 6-8, CM 201-U will use a pass/incomplete grading plan. The District has defined the following expectations related to pass/incomplete grading practices:
- Teachers will identify and communicate which learning assignments are graded and which are non-graded.
- For a student to earn a passing grade for the trimester, they must engage in and complete graded learning assignments and assessments assigned by the teacher.
- A passing grade will continue to be based on the quality of work and demonstration of learning at a proficiency level of 60% or above.
- Students whose grade is below 60% will have the opportunity to review, redo, and resubmit the learning assignment/assessment for the opportunity to receive a passing grade.
- Students will not receive a zero for any assignment or assessment that is not completed. An *or No Count will be used in Skyward.
- Students who struggle to maintain and/or achieve scores of 60% may receive additional support.
- Graded assignments and assessments may be completed and turned in any time during the Remote Learning period..
- Any grades earned from March 3rd - March 16th may be included in the pass/incomplete grade determination for the 3rd trimester. If those grades prevent a student from earning a passing grade for the trimester, those grades will not be included.
- Any assignments that occurred from March 17th - April 7th will not be included as ISBE designated these as non-instructional days.
- Students who do not achieve a trimester grade of at least 60% will receive an Incomplete (I). Students will have the opportunity to complete the learning requirements during the summer.
- Students who do not submit any graded work for Remote Learning will receive an Incomplete.
Students who are unable to complete the graded assignments or assessments to a level of at least 60% due to extenuating circumstances related to the school closure will receive a passing grade. These situations will be reviewed on a case by case basis upon parent request.
