Green Team with the Green Bins

The Green Team has installed these nifty looking, brand new, green bins around the classes across campus in order to increase the means of recycling in school. The goal is also to reduce amount of trashed produced by the school, not only helping the community, but also raising awareness for students to carry out this project in their own homes.

ADLA team helps light up a Village

The ADLA team headed out to Coban this week to help light up a village. The team used funds raised through a number of ventures including a concert and the Copa de Luz tournament, to help install solar power in a village in Coban. They learned a lot about the challenges faced by the community and the costs in time and money involved in something as simple as recharging a phone. We look forward to hearing from the students on their return. To check out more about their project and the work of Amigos de Aldea check out the http://www.amigosaldea.org website.

CODING & ROBOTICS CLUB

Secondary students have been spending their Friday afternoons working alongside our Elementary students to teach them a range of technology skills. The students, as part of their service learning commitment, are teaching their younger peers, coding using Scratch, programming using the MBots and working with Lego EV3. The students, who have been working for over a year now, are using the money they gain to help fund their own initiatives working with others in the community. This is a truly great example of sustainable service, with both parties gaining so much from the learning experience. Keep up the good work!!
