Spelling

Each fortnight, we will be focusing on a group of 15 words known as our ‘Fortnight Focus Words’.

On the first Monday of the fortnight, we will look at these words together - considering the tricky part of each word, the number of syllables, its phonemes etc. They will be displayed in the classroom, and over the following fortnight we aim to identify these same spelling patterns in other words through other parts of the curriculum, helping us to better engage with and internalise these patterns.

We will then have a spelling quiz at the end of the fortnight, where children will be working together to  remember the spelling pattern and see if they can identify any words with similar patterns.
