KS2 SATs are national curriculum tests taken by children in Year 6 (typically aged 10 to 11) in state primary schools in England
Reading: A single 60-minute reading test based on a booklet of texts.
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS / SPaG): Paper 1 (grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary) lasting 45 minutes, plus Paper 2 (aural spelling test taking roughly 15 minutes).
Mathematics: Three papers. Paper 1 is an arithmetic test (30 minutes). Papers 2 and 3 are mathematical reasoning tests (40 minutes each).
Writing and Science: There are no formal SATs papers for writing or science; instead, teachers make an ongoing teacher assessment of children's work throughout the year
Results are not given as traditional letter grades or pass/fail marks. Instead, children receive raw scores (the number of marks they actually get) which are converted into scaled scores:
80–99: Working below the expected standard (NS — Not achieved standard).
100-119: The official expected standard (AS — Achieved standard).
110–120: Working at a higher/greater depth standard
