The Importance of Home Reading

Inside your child’s reading folder, you will find their current phonics book. This book is specifically matched to the sounds and levels they are currently mastering in school.

Reading this book at home provides vital practice that helps:

• Build Fluency: Repeated reading helps children recognise words quicker and read them more smoothly.

• Boost Confidence: Practicing familiar sounds allows them to feel successful and proud of their progress.

• Develop Skills: The more practice a child has, the more their skills will grow.

We kindly ask that you read with your child as much as possible—ideally every day. Even ten minutes of shared reading makes a massive impact.
