YEAR 1 Homework
Focus words for Term 1
In Year 1 we do not have formal spelling tests, but we do have focus words that we look closely at each week. These words have been specifically selected because they are used a lot in both reading and/or writing. To help learn these words (we call them tricky words), ask your child if they can spot the tricky part of the word and why it makes it seem tricky to either spell or read. We cover these words in our phonics lesson so the children become familiar with spotting which part of the word is tricky.

Term 1 & 2
As well as both reading regularly with your child to enhance their fluency in reading, and ensuring they log in daily to DoodleMaths to help build up their confidence and stamina in maths, we have also got a homework grid where your child can choose a task they would like to complete. The expectation is that they choose at least 1 task to complete by the end of Term 2, ready to share with the rest of the class (...though if they would like to do more than 1, that's fine too!)
