About SERDAC LMS

The SERDAC Team has been providing support for requested Non-Degree Training, Seminars, and Workshops for capacity building of the researchers in the field of socio-economic and allied fields. SERDAC generally aims to provide support and increase the knowledge and skills of the researchers from SUCs and PCAARRD-Consortia Member Agencies. SERDAC Program Leader and staff members also offer Socio-economic, econometric, statistical analysis for research purposes and consultancy services for socio-economic and non-socioeconomic students/researchers (e.g., baseline studies, valuation studies, impact assessment, among others).

Parametric and Non-Parametric Analysis in Socio-Economics Research using STATA

Units: 3
Certificate: 1
Instructor:

  1. Anna Maria Lourdes Latonio

  2. Maria Excelsis M. Orden

  3. Maria Yna Diane Ubaldo

Course Overview:

Stata is a robust statistical software package that allows users to analyze, organize, and create graphical data visualizations. It is largely used to study data trends by economists, biomedical researchers, and political scientists. Stata is being used by an increasing number of economists for data analysis. Stata contains built-in commands for data management and cleaning, basic statistical analysis, complex econometric techniques such as panel and time series regression models, and creating visually beautiful graphs and tables. Stata allows users to perform analysis by writing code or using menus. Stata can import data from a variety of sources, including CSV and spreadsheet (including Excel) files. Stata's proprietary file formats are platform-agnostic, allowing users of various operating systems to readily share datasets and applications.

Statistical Tool for Agricultural Research-STAR

Units: 3
Certificate: 1
Instructor:

  1. Anna Maria Lourdes Latonio

  2. Maria Excelsis M. Orden

  3. Maria Yna Diane Ubaldo

Course Overview:

The Statistical Tool for Agricultural Research (STAR) is a computer program that manages experimental data and does basic statistical analysis on it. The Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) was used to create the graphical interface, while the R language and environment for statistical computing and graphics were used to generate the calculation and graphics. STAR's current version includes modules for data management, generating randomization and layout, and analyzing variance for commonly used experimental designs, descriptive statistics, basic graphs, correlation analysis, linear and non-linear regression analysis, multivariate analysis, and commonly used non-parametric analysis. As an introduction guide to STAR GUI usage, a brief demonstration of the randomization and layout of experimental design for Split Plot design and analysis will be offered.
