2nd Semester EXTRA CREDIT

Below you will find 3 different options for Extra Credit.

The deadline is May 31st NO EXCEPTIONS!

YOU MAY ONLY CHOSE ONE OPTION.

EVERYONE, no matter which option you choose, MUST FILL OUT AN EXTRA CREDIT FORM and have it signed by an ADULT STAFF MEMBER at the event you attend.

EXTRA CREDIT FORMS ARE AVAILABLE FROM MRS. ROONEY IN CLASS

Option 1 - Poetry Slam

Requirements

  • Write an original poem that follows the Poetry Slam requirements with school appropriate topic and language (minimum 15 lines).
  • Present your poem at the Poetry Slam preliminaries on May 13th, 14th,15th, 16th or 17th at lunch in room 270.
  • Turn in an EXTRA CREDIT FORM signed by an adult staff member at the event with your typed or neatly hand written poem by the May 31st deadline.

Option 2 - Line Memorization

Requirements

By yourself

  • Chose a MONOLOGUE or SOLILOQUY of a minimum of 16 lines (must be continuous lines from ONE character, with no interruption of other characters).
  • Make an appointment and present your memorized lines to Mrs. Rooney (presentation must be done PRIOR to MAY 31st DEADLINE.
  • For your appointment, bring a typed or neatly hand written copy of your lines and an EXTRA CREDIT FORM to be signed by Mrs. Rooney.

OR

With a partner (only groups of 2)

  • Choose lines of dialogue where EACH person has a minimum of 16 lines (must be continuous lines from two characters, with no interruption of other characters).
  • Make an appointment and present your memorized lines to Mrs. Rooney (presentation must be done PRIOR to MAY 31st DEADLINE.
  • For your appointment, bring a typed or neatly hand written copy of your lines and an EXTRA CREDIT FORM to be signed by Mrs. Rooney.


Option 3 - Play Critique

Attend a performance of A CUSD or Community Play/Musical

See list of possible CUSD performances below.

Requirements

  • Attend a performance and have an adult staff member sign your EXTRA CREDIT FORM indicating you were there.
  • Turn in a signed EXTRA CREDIT FORM and a ticket stub with your typed or neatly hand written critique including the following information by the deadline.
      • Play Critique must be at least 500 words
      • The Critique must follow the outline used for the argumentative editorial (see attached outline below)
      • You must provide a CLAIM (what you thought of the performance), REASONS (what specifically was good and/or bad), EVIDENCE (reference to specific things the actors did that support your claim), a COUNTER ARGUMENT (ask someone else what they thought of the performance), and a strong CONCLUSION summing up your claim and giving your recommendation.
