The Roc It Forward award is a tribute to the life and legacy of Rocco Rossini and in the way he lived his life with strong character and loving spirit. Rocco’s peers describe him as courageous, honest, and protective of others feelings. He respected everyone as equals and saw the best that others had to offer. The Roc It Forward award was founded as a tribute to the memories shared by everyone who knew Rocco Rossini (2006-2016).

We are providing a one-award between $500-$1,000 to the 12th grade student at Buchanan High School who picks up the torch and continues Rocco’s life philosophy.

The award will be provided to that 12th grade student at Buchanan High School who based upon peer nominations from students, demonstrates leadership, character, and compassion or a self nomination. A different recipient will be selected each year. The award is a one-time payment to the recipient. The student should exhibit at least some of the following:

· Persists in productive pursuits in athletics, the arts, social issues, or academics despite obstacles

· Is strong in character and does not submit to negative influences of others

· Exhibits a strong work ethic, unyielding belief in oneself, and determined spirit

· Is respectful of students of various backgrounds

· Confronts bullying and reflects an unbiased and consistent support of others

Nominees would be expected to attain passing grades and be an involved member of the Buchanan High School community. It is not a requirement that the student plan to enroll in a traditional post-graduation 2 or 4-year college but would need to explain a productive use for the funds upon application. Nominations will be accepted from March 1st- April 30th . You may nominate yourself or another student who you feel would be a good fit for this award in the form below.
