Class Overview
Room 5 is a welcoming and supportive environment where students are encouraged to learn, grow, and feel confident in their abilities and themselves. Throughout the year, students will build important skills in English language arts, math, science, and social studies, while making connections to the real world. Topics such as Ancient Civilizations, Ratios and Proportional Relationships, and Earth and Life Sciences are only a few of the many exciting points that we will explore. Students will be inspired to do their best each day, and will be encouraged to show kindness and respect. Room 5's goal is to create a positive classroom community where every student feels supported and welcomed. As 6th grade is the final elementary chapter before middle school, in Room 5 let's make it a good one!
About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Colby Souza and I am a 6th grade teacher here at Copper Hills Elementary. I was born and raised in Fresno, California; and recently graduated from Fresno State University with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies. With this year being my first year as a teacher, I would not want to begin my career with anyone else, nor anywhere else, as I attended Copper Hills myself as a student. I chose to become a teacher because I thoroughly enjoy making a difference, and making an impact on students' lives. I also enjoy coaching, which is why I will be the head coach of football and wrestling this year. With sports being a passion of mine, I like mentioning that I am a Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco Giants, and Golden State Warriors fan. As I begin my teaching journey, I am beyond excited to get to know all of you, and I am ready to make this year truly unforgettable.
