Clovis North Elementary Area Music Recruitment and SelectionDear Parents/Guardians, Welcome to the new school year. We are pleased to inform you that students in grades 5 and 6 will continue to be part of a unique Clovis North Area Elementary Performing Arts Program for the 2020-21 school year. Through the collaborative efforts of Clovis North Area music teachers and administrators, we are continuing the journey to provide access for all students in grades 5 and 6 to participate in either instrumental or choral performance music. This team deployment model will insure maximum utilization of instructional minutes while providing access to exemplary music education. This approach will provide access for all students to performing arts, which is aligned and articulated with the music continuum for grades 1-12. Every fifth grade student will select either choir, band, or orchestra. There are no financial obligations for participation in these programs. Students will remain in the same performing group for both of their 5th and 6th grade years. Please discuss the best choice for your child. Please join us in welcoming the following music teachers to the Clovis North Elementary Area Educational Team: Joe Lenigan – Band - (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone) Francisca Preciado – Orchestra - (violin, viola, cello, bass) Alyssa Shamp/Lorlyn Bartel – Choir - singing Please realize this is a ‘two-year’ commitment and students will not be allowed to switch. Additional information will be provided by the instrumental and choral music directors as needed. Class placement is based on availability of instruments, student interest and space limitations. Sincerely, Principal
