Here’s a look at what’s happening in Room 10 this week!

📊 Math

• • 🧮 Lesson 8 Test – Today, Monday, October 27

  • Starting Lesson 9: Solving Word Problems with Two-Digit Numbers

    1. 📎I will attach the Family Letter for Lesson 9 on ParentSquare

  • Continuing daily math warm-ups each morning

  • Students should have 2 iReady math lessons passed by Friday

✍️ Writing & Language (ELA)

• • Continuing informative writing – learning how to write about real topics using facts and details

  • Morning warm-ups will focus on prefixes, adjectives, and plurals (adding s, es, or ies)

  • Reviewing examples of informative paragraphs and identifying key details

📚 Reading

• • Finishing Unit 3: Government at Work in our Benchmark curriculum 🏛️

  • 📝 Unit 3, Week 2 Reading Test – Tuesday, October 28

  • Week 3’s Benchmark test will be taken on computers (district-assigned)

  • Now reading The One and Only Ivan 🦍 after finishing Charlotte’s Web

  • 👀 Sight Words will be posted on ParentSquare and on my class website later today

  • Students should have 2 iReady reading lessons passed by Friday

📝 Spelling

• • Focus: er, ir, and ur sounds (ex. girl, hurt, winter, etc.)

  • 📝 Spelling packets handed out today, Monday, October 27

  • Words posted on ParentSquare and my class website later today

  • Students complete 1–2 pages each day in class; unfinished pages should be completed at home

  • 🗓️ Spelling Test – Thursday, October 30

💡 Positivity Project

• • This week’s character strength: Other People Mindset (OPM) – Knowing Words and Actions Affect Others 💬

  • Class discussions and activities about how our words and choices impact others

  • Students will reflect on times they showed kindness through their words and actions

  • 🏅 On Friday, students will vote for a classmate who demonstrated this strength throughout the week

📅 Looking Ahead & Reminders

• • 🏃‍♂️ Charger Challenge (Jog-a-Thon) – Thursday, October 30 (costume day)

  • 🎃 No School – Friday, October 31 (Parent-Teacher Conferences)

  • 🗓️ No School – Monday, November 10 & Tuesday, November 11 (Veterans Day Observance)
