🌟 Week 17 Overview: Week of January 6- January 9🌟
Positivity Project: Optimism ⭐
Hello Everyone,
Here’s a look at what’s happening in Room 10 this week!
🔢 Math
🔢 We are finishing Lessons 12 and 13 this week, which focus on three-digit numbers.
➕ Since Lessons 12 and 13 are very similar, we have been combining some of the questions as we wrap them up.
🎯 Our goal this week is to start Lesson 14, which focuses on comparing three-digit numbers. (Lesson 14 test TBA)
💻 Students will only need to complete one iReady math lesson this week.
✏️ Spelling
We are starting Unit 5, Week 1 for spelling this week. Packets will be passed out tomorrow, and students will have time in class to work on them.
This week’s spelling words:
apple • baseball • hope • inside • little • mistake • purple • shape • table • useful
📚 ELA
✍️ Students will be writing about their Winter Break experiences.
🎯 We will continue discussing New Year’s goals and resolutions.
📄 Students will create a one-pager with at least four goals/resolutions they hope to accomplish by the end of the year.
📝 Since this is a short week, the ELA warm-up quiz will be on Friday instead of Thursday.
📖 Reading
📘 We are back in our Benchmark curriculum!
💡 Unit 5 focuses on Solving Problems Through Technology.
⏳ Because it is a short week, the Week 1 test will be at the beginning of next week.

💚 Positivity Project — Optimism
🌞 Students will learn what optimism means and how it can help them face challenges.
💬 We will discuss how having a positive mindset can impact learning and relationships, and have a bright future.
🗳️ At the end of the week, students will vote for a classmate who demonstrated optimism.
⭐ PBIS Behavior Reminders (please read)
🏫 Today (1/6), we spent time reviewing classroom and schoolwide expectations.
📋 We went over the school’s PBIS matrix and discussed what can qualify as a minor inside and outside of the classroom.
📲 If your student receives a minor, I will communicate via ParentSquare or by phone if needed.
📝 When a minor is issued, the pink PBIS matrix sheet will be sent home and will require a parent's initial.
🔄 Minors reset each quarter. After 5 minors in a quarter, students lose the privilege of attending quarterly PBIS and classroom incentives.
☑️ Minors are used as a way to fix mistakes and start fresh the next day.
⚠️ Students receive one warning before a minor is issued in the classroom.
