📋 Students worked on pages 101–104 in their Lesson 5 packet today — please have them bring their packet to and from school every day

✏️ Focus: Long "E" Vowel Sound

📄 Packets were passed out today, and we worked on the first page (front and back) — please do not complete the entire packet at home in one sitting, as we work through each page together throughout the week

🥧 Tricky word tip: "piece" — think of a piece of PIE! The word "pie" is the first three letters of piece.

🔤 Practicing contractions — most students know "not" contractions (ex., isn't, can't), so we are expanding to others this week

📋 Discussing what a second-grade paragraph looks like as we prepare for our upcoming writing performance task

📘 Starting Unit 2 Week 2 — "Characters Facing Challenges"

📝 We did not have time for our Week 1 reading test today due to music — we will take it tomorrow. Music on Mondays cuts into our reading time, so we adjust our schedule as needed

💻 Students need to pass 2 iReady MyPath reading lessons by Friday

🌟 Discussing what it means to forgive others and ourselves

🗳️ Voting for a classmate who demonstrated forgiveness at the end of the week

🏅 Certificate sent home + ParentSquare message if your student is chosen

🎨 Veterans Day Art Contest

🎖️ Each year, CUSD participates in the Veterans Memorial District's Veterans Day Art Contest

🖌️ We have not had our art class time yet, so we have not started in class — students will have time to work on their pieces tomorrow and Wednesday

📅 Art pieces are due Wednesday, September 30th
