Kindergarten Reading Goal
By the end of the year, students should be able to read at a DRA Level 4.
To support your child at home, encourage them to retell the stories you read together or that they read on their own. Ask them to explain what happened at the beginning, middle, and end of the story. This helps build their understanding of story structure and improves comprehension.
You can also ask, “What was your favorite part of the story?” and follow up with, “Why was that your favorite part?” These types of questions help your child think more deeply about what they read and make personal connections to the text.
