About Me

I am a Clovis native: I attended Alta Sierra Intermediate and I graduated from Buchanan High School. Afterwards, I attended CSU Fresno for two years before transferring to Biola University. I graduated from Biola University with a B.S. degree in Mathematics, Secondary Education emphasis, and a Biblical Studies minor. While I taught at Buchanan High School from 2013-2016, I completed my MATEd. online through Biola University. I taught up in Elk Grove, CA from 2016 - 2018 at Bradshaw Christian High School. Shortly after, my husband and I bought a house in Clovis and returned in 2018. This will be my third year at Clovis East High School and my eighth year teaching.

Besides having a heart for teaching math, I love learning new things about my subject matter, getting to know my students, and trying out new hobbies and activities. I have taken up a variety of hobbies and activities, like coaching gymnastics, running my first half-marathon in October 2012 at Long Beach, CA, top-rope rock climbing at Joshua Tree, traveling to Europe in the summer of 2014, and enjoying a two-week trip with my husband throughout Italy in the summer of 2017. I enjoy traveling and experiencing other cultures, as well as encouraging others to do the same. I believe in being a life long learner with a growth mindset.

Below are a few pictures I took from my Europe excursion in the summer of 2014.

I have a passion for the Golden Rule: treating others the way you would want to be treated. It is in the core of my life philosophy, as well as my teaching philosophy. I strive to create a learning environment that inspires others to see the beauty and applications involved in mathematics, to encourage others to be life-long learners in mathematics and to be the best they can be in mind, body, and spirit.

I look forward to the upcoming school year and getting to know all of you, your goals, and your passions. Go T-Wolves!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mackenzie Lauchland
