Short Answer: 5-6 months
Long Answer: Because Science Fair project ideas are due in November/December, students will typically be coming up with a project idea until then and beginning to do research for the project throughout January/February. After the research is completed, students will complete their presentation board by February/March. Students are expected to spend several hours each week on their project if they are serious about competing at one of the Science Fairs outside of the Clovis West area.
Look at both the State Fair and ISEF websites for project ideas, or ask Ms. G to help you out!
It is ALWAYS a good idea to ask for help! Ms. Guerrero will be happy to assist you with anything you need (except completing your project for you, of course). If you have someone in your friend or family circle that has a special science mind, it might be beneficial to ask for assistance from them as well!
Restricted Projects:
Might not be allowed into some Science Fairs
Require a form to be submitted to the County for approval
Must be turned in earlier than Non-Restricted Projects
Include things like: Mold, E.coli, Human Participants, Vertebrates (organisms with spines), or Chemicals
Non-Restricted Projects:
Are always allowed
Do not require a form
Do not have to be submitted early
The EASIER choice for everyone!!
This depends on each individual project. Most scientific experiments require a great number of trials in order to be considered significant. It would be a good idea to ask Ms. G how many trials your specific project needs to be viable.
