Cheer Contract 2025-26
Academic Standing
Students must maintain a certain level of scholarship (2.0 GPA minimum) with no failing grades
Students who do not meet eligibility criteria at one grading period will be placed on probation. They may practice and compete with site intervention to address the academic concerns until the following grading period.
Students who do not meet the eligibility criteria at two consecutive grading periods will result in the student being ineligible. They will be re-evaluated at the next grading period.
Citizenship
Students must maintain satisfactory citizenship as judged by the advisor and administration.
Requirements
Students must attend all practices, performances, rallies, games, and other events, in the required uniform, at the discretion of the advisors and the administration
Students must attend all required practices. Spirit practices will be Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00. Competition Cheer will practice from 3:00-5:30.
*Leading up to competitions and spirit nights, additional practices may be added.*
Students must help with school events and other responsibilities as designated by the advisors.
Students must fulfill all additional responsibilities as designated by the advisors.
Students must attend cheer camp.
Students must wear required uniform to school on Fridays and other days as designated by the advisors.
Competition Cheer Members must attend every competition: Clovis Classic, Clovis North Showcase, and Clovis West Showdown, Buchanan Spirit Night or more at the discretion of the advisors and the administration.
Attendance
Attendance will be taken at the beginning of every practice, performance, rally, game, and other events.
If students cannot attend a practice/event, or are going to miss for any reason, absences will need to be communicated to the designated coach prior to that practice or event.
If you are sick, please email your designated coach.
All appointments (doctors, dentist, etc.) should be scheduled around practice and events. Please do not schedule appointments during practices. Non-medical appointments will not be excused.
If a student has three unexcused absences, they must attend the next event, but will not be able to participate.
The success of our squad depends on the devotion of each squad member. You must work together as a team; therefore, the absence of any squad member from practices or performances hinders the performance of the entire squad.
Responsibilities
The squads will perform at all home football and basketball games and other activities (such as rallies), as well as attend other events at the direction of the advisors and administration.
Participation
All athletes that adhere to our ROAR Expectations will be allowed to participate at events.
R- Remember Safety First: during practice and events
O- Outstanding Character: try hard and never quit and attend all scheduled events
A- Act Responsibly: wear uniforms or appropriate attire on game days
R- Respect For All: follow coaches rules and directions and use kind words
Students that fail to meet these expectations, conduct unacceptable behavior*, have unexcused absences or tardies, do not dress out for practice or an event, leave games or practices early, or do not attend mandatory events will receive an Infraction. Students that receive three Infractions will be required to dress out for the next event, but not perform. If a student receives more than six Infractions In a season, a meeting with coaches and parents will be required to reevaluate a student's position on their team.
Any athlete that misses a mandatory practice or competition during competition season will be choreographed out of the routine and Ineligible to participate In any performances going forward.
***Unacceptable behavior could include treating fellow team members, squad members, advisors, or cheer instructors in a disrespectful way, leaving an event without checking with an advisor, playing around during practice or at an event after a verbal warning has been given, or acting out in any way that is unbecoming of a Garfield Cheerleader.***
Uniforms
Uniforms are required for all students who make a team.
Competition Cheer members will all wear the uniform with the bodyliner, as this is required for competitions.
The cost is $328 for the uniform (includes the leotard top, skirt with briefs attached, and liner).
Bows are required at an additional $20.
Shoes can be purchased from DA Designs or students have the option to purchase their own ALL white ATHLETIC shoes.
Competition Cheer members will need ALL white athletic CHEER specific shoes.
Optional jackets, sweats, and backpacks will be available for purchase.
