Preschool Inclusion Program

Clovis Unified School District

Since 2011, inclusion preschool has been happily evolving and progressing in Clovis Unified School District, thanks to the tireless dedication and passion of some of the district’s finest. The mere fact that inclusion exists-and now going on its ninth year-is indicative of the forward-thinking level of commitment of Child Development and Special Education and administrators, teachers, and staff.

In these caring and nurturing programs, students benefit from positive peer role models and language rich environments. Differences and diversity are celebrated. All students learn to support each other and be sensitive to individual needs.

Accommodations and modifications to the core curriculum are implemented based on individual student's needs. A school Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and other services work within the classroom environment to support students as needed.

Team Teaching, Inclusion:

The “Team Teaching Inclusion" preschool programs provide the opportunity for General Education and Special Education students to work together. The students are enrolled in either the General Education or Special Education classrooms that are located in close proximity. The General Education and Special Education teachers work closely to develop customized activity plans that meet the needs of every child enrolled in the program. The program strives for a rich learning environment where all children play and learn from each other.

Inclusion is opening our minds to new possibilities, making room for different perspectives and enriching the experience for everyone along the way.
