Mrs. Bemis
Math 7
email: susanbemis@cusd.com Syllabus
Welcome to Clark Intermediate and the 2025-2026 school year! My name is Suzy Bemis. This year begins my 18th year as a teacher! I was born and raised in Corona del Mar, CA. I attended the University of San Diego and majored in Business Administration with an emphasis in Procurement. After 6 years in the business world, I took a leap of faith and decided to follow my love of math in to the classroom. Within the last 17 years a lot has happened; my husband, Scott, and I got married, we have moved a total of 7 times within 3 states (CA to Idaho to Nevada and back to CA...hoping to never move again!) and we welcomed our son, Cooper, and daughter, Ellyn, to our family. Cooper is 12 and will be entering the 6th grade and Ellyn is 9 and heading to 1st grade. We love to travel, snow ski, and watch all of our favorite sporting teams!
I am very excited to have each of you in my class and look forward to a great year!
Please do not hesitate to reach out and ask any questions throughout the school year. I am here to help make your year as seamless as possible. You may email me anytime at susanbemis@cusd.com .
Our classroom calendar and schedule of events can be found by logging into your google classroom via Clever.
You will see our class schedule from a weekly view under the CLASSWORK tab.
At any point, you can find information on our classroom activities, assignments and school-wide events. (If you are absent from class, this is a great place to start.)
Pencil and eraser
Correcting pen; red or blue is best
Highlighter
Binder with ruled paper
Calculator (we also have a class set)
Planner/Calendar (provided in Math notebook)
pencils, pencils and a few more pencils
In our class we use the Google Classroom platform to communicate all classroom assignments, activities and upcoming assessments and due dates.
We will be accessing and joining Google Classroom during the second week of school. Your specific class code will be given during your class period.
If you have joined our class after week 2, please see Mrs. Bemis to join our Google Classroom.
Each day during the designated period, we will meet as a class. Students will be expected to:
Arrive on time.
Be prepared (with supplies) and be engaged learners.
Be respectful to everyone in our room.
Be responsible for their actions.
Work through struggles and learn by correcting mistakes.
Justify work through writing and collaboration.
Seek help from a teacher or intervention when more understanding is needed.
At the end of each lesson, students will demonstrate their learning through various practices. Quizzes and exit tickets are quick, short formative assessments.
These tasks are for me to check your understanding of the lesson. I will be the only person who will see your answers. You will also be given the feedback.
You will have assignments that tie to the current topic and/or review information from previous learning topics. All work is to be turned in to teacher. Due dates will be given and students will be held accountable to meeting those deadlines.
Assignments will be posted in the classroom tab of your google classroom for reference or absences.
For each assignment, work individually and to the best of your ability. All work must be shown and legible, full sentences must be used for explanations and pictures must be clear.
Any work that is not complete or legible will be returned.
