Generally speaking, to be considered for scholarships awarded on the basis of financial need, a student needs to qualify for the Student Allowance at the full rate. How much you get for the Student Allowance depends on your situation. Check StudyLink for the details.
StudyLink’s Student Allowance Calculator will help you calculate the amount of money you’re eligible to receive based on your parental income and living situation.
If you have any queries regarding your eligibility for the Student Allowance (and you haven’t found the answer on the StudyLink website), phone the StudyLink helpline - 0800 88 99 00
How to calculate your Rank Score for Scholarships
You can use the NCEA Calculator, a simple on-line tool to calculate your rank score, or the table below as a template. However - remember that you must use your Year 12 results for the purpose of scholarships.
(Only enter maximum of 5 subjects and maximum of 24 credits per subject)
To calculate your rank score:
· use your best 80 credits from Year 12 (this can be less than 80 credits)
· from a maximum of five approved subjects
· maximum of 24 credits per subject
· these credits are then weighted by awarding points based on the level of achievement
Excellence (x4 points) Merit (x3 points) Achieved (x2 points)
· the maximum rank score is 320 (i.e. 80 x 4)
IB Diploma Rank Score is your predicted IB Diploma score. Please check with Ms Brandt if you are unsure of your predicted IB Diploma score.
