Unlocking the Power of

Hydrogen

Introduction

The Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) is a fascinating and vital electrochemical process that plays a pivotal role in the field of renewable energy and sustainability. As the world seeks cleaner and more efficient energy sources, understanding and harnessing HER is becoming increasingly important. We will delve into the science behind the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction, its significance, and its applications in our quest for a greener future.

What is the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction?

At its core, the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction is the electrochemical process of generating hydrogen gas (H2) from water (H2O) through the use of an external electrical source. This reaction occurs at the cathode of an electrochemical cell and involves the reduction of protons (H+) to form hydrogen gas:

2H₂O + 2e⁻ → H₂(g) + 2OH⁻

Our research group is working on the development of a catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction. Our objectives are as follows,

The team comprises of Dr. Faaz Ahmed as PI and other team members include PhD Scholars, Master Level Students and undergraduate final year students.
