What is the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction?
At its core, the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction is the electrochemical process of generating hydrogen gas (H2) from water (H2O) through the use of an external electrical source. This reaction occurs at the cathode of an electrochemical cell and involves the reduction of protons (H+) to form hydrogen gas:
2H₂O + 2e⁻ → H₂(g) + 2OH⁻
Our research group is working on the development of a catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction. Our objectives are as follows,
Building infrastructure and laboratory dedicated for hydrogen generation technology.
Development of catalyst that can perform in line with Pt for HER.
Understanding the HER mechanism
Development of sustainable catalyst.
The team comprises of Dr. Faaz Ahmed as PI and other team members include PhD Scholars, Master Level Students and undergraduate final year students.
