Introduction

I am Dr. Ing. Abdul Rauf Jamali, currently serving as an Associate Professor and HEC Approved PhD Supervisor in the Department of Materials Engineering at NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi. My academic foundation is built upon a PhD in Materials Science (Research) from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany, as well as a PhD in Materials Engineering (Course) from NED University and an MSc from the University of Kiel, Germany. With over 14 years of diverse experience across academia and industry, I have served as a Visiting Scientific Researcher at Fraunhofer EMFT in Munich, a Lab Head and Assistant Professor at NEDUET, and a Production Engineer at Amreli Steels. My research is focused on the synthesis and characterization of advanced functional materials, including biocomposites, biodegradable food packaging, and metallic nanoparticles for antibacterial and plasmonic applications. These contributions have been recognized through prestigious honors, including the HEC-Pakistan Best Young Researcher Award 2024 and the Best Researcher Award 2023 from NED University. I have also been successful in securing significant research funding, most notably a 20 Million PKR grant from the National Research Programme for Universities (NRPU-HEC) and a 5 Million PKR SDGF Grant from the USA. Beyond my research, I am deeply involved in academic leadership and quality assurance, serving as a member of the Board of Studies for curriculum design and the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC). My technical expertise encompasses a wide range of specialized skills, from clean-room processes like photolithography and MEMS/NEMS fabrication to advanced analytical characterization using SEM, XRD, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy. I am passionate about fostering industry-academia linkages and mentoring students to ensure that our engineering innovations address real-world challenges effectively.
