Maundene Weekly

“It isn't where you came from, it's where you're going that counts” ― Ella Fitzgerald
Dear Parents/Carers,
We hope you had a lovely week - the children of Maundene certainly have!
Ravens commenced the week with building their teamwork and communication skills through their maths lesson. They used a variety of resources to support them when dividing 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. They also focused on using new vocabulary such as divisor, dividend and quotient when discussing their answers.
On Tuesday, Ospreys enjoyed making origami hearts and cranes to celebrate Chinese New Year. Did you know that the Chinese New Year celebration is also called Spring Festival?
Alongside this, Tuesday appeared to be an extremely musical day for Maundene Primary School. Woodpeckers, Robins and Owls all celebrated their musical talents by uploading videos onto our twitter. Please have a look as they are fantastic!
On Wednesday, we celebrated our Stars of the Week in our weekly celebration assembly for their hard work in lessons and demonstrating our school values. We also saw Falcons demonstrating great climbing skills during their Forest School session, using their core muscles to climb and balance.
Thursday was Milo's birthday! He had a lovely day celebrating with the children across the school.
Alongside this, Finches took part in team games for their outdoor learning session. They took it in turns to locate numbers and then order them on a number line. Kestrels also thoroughly enjoyed their team games for outdoor learning. They were competitive during their game of target toss and demonstrated integrity when playing the colour hoop game.
Today Woodpeckers celebrated their learning through an assembly to parents and children in year 3 and 4. It was wonderful to listen to them singing 'Three Little Birds (Don't worry about a thing)' and they were extremely proud to show off their beautiful watercolours. Well done Woodpeckers!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Miss Capes, Mrs Jackson and The Maundene Team
Learning Snapshots
Year 5 - History
This week, Jays and Swans have used the Chromebooks to create Jamboards about life in Ancient Greece.
They thoroughly enjoyed recording their learning in this way.
Kingfishers - PE
On Monday, Kingfishers continued to build on their jumping and balancing skills in PE.
They used their arms to help them balance when they were using the narrow balance beam. #eyfs
Stars of the Week
Every week we celebrate our stars of the week who have worked extremely hard and applied our values or character skills consistently. We are so proud of them and know you will be too!

Key Messages
Reading
At Maundene Primary School, we are extremely passionate about reading. We love to see and hear our children talking about different books, whether fiction, non-fiction, poetry or any other genres. Please ensure your child is reading at home and that contact books are signed. Books have the power to improve your vocabulary and writing, along with your ability to effectively communicate with others.
Healthy Snacks
As we are a healthy school, please ensure your child is bringing in a healthy snack at break time. EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 have this provided for them.
Early Years - Resources
At Maundene, we are constantly striving to further develop our provision for our Reception children, indoors and outdoors. If you have any or know of anyone who has any wooden palletts, wooden cable reels or crates then please let us know!

Year 2 - Robins
What a wonderful video of Robins working incredibily hard on their vocal skills!
The children have been working on:
using their voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes.
listening with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music.
It is so lovely to observe such pride! Well done Robins!
