“Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.” ― Anne Frank.
Dear Parents/Carers,
We hope you had a lovely weekend!
Year 2 had an extremely busy start to the week as they had outdoor learning and a visit to our school library. During outdoor learning, Robins and Blackbirds worked collaboratively to create a 'silly face' using maps, keys and the correct equipment. Blackbirds thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the school library and sharing their favourite books. We also welcomed one of our school governors in to school to discuss RSE with Mrs Rattle and she was blown away with how knowledgeable and articulate all the children were when she spoke to them. They were an absolute credit to the school and made everyone feel extremely proud of them.
On Tuesday, Ravens and Owls were learning about habitats in science, therefore their visit to forest school further developed their learning as they made their own wormeries and bird feeders. Alongside this, the children enjoyed the mud slide. Year 3 had fun exploring fruit and vegetables in their forest school sessions and they were using potato peelers and knives to prepare their salads. The best part was when they got the enjoy their food whilst having their hot chocolate.
On Wednesday, we celebrated our Stars of the Week in our weekly celebration assembly for their hard work in lessons and demonstrating our school values. We also said a massive well done to Year 1 for being noticed by many members of staff for walking round school so calmly and quietly - well done Finches and Kestrels!
Thursday saw Ospreys developing their investigative skills by having fun conducting investigations in science to explain how light travels using torches and pieces of card. Miss Cafferkey also used jamboard for the first time with her class to share all the knowledge Robins had about online safety and we could also see that the children enjoyed writing on the interactive post-it notes to display their thoughts and ideas.
Year 3 had a very successful maths workshop today! The children thoroughly enjoyed reading with their parents and demonstrating their reading skills. Alongside this, Year 5 relished the opportunity to up-level their vocabulary today during English.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Indresano, Miss Capes and The Maundene Team

Year 4 - Geography links in English
Ravens were identifying the route taken by Matthew Henson in their new core text ‘Race To The Frozen North.’ They traced Henson's route he made as a young boy through to the oceans he crossed in order to reach The North Pole.

Tweet of the week!
It was wonderful to see Falcons class tucking into their fruit and vegetable salad this week whilst they were at Forest School!
The children know that fruit and vegetables are a good source of vitamins, minerals and fibre. They focused on the importance of aiming to eat at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and veg each day.
