Homework expectations are the same each week. Students should read and complete the reading log, study spelling words, practice multiplication facts, and complete 1 IXL math outcome if possible. It is very important that homework bags come to school each day.
Kindness Kits - If you or if you know of a family who would benefit from a weekend Kindness Kit - package of food items, please contact Mr. Anderson at gzanderson@edu.pe.ca or telephone 902-368-6950. On the last day of school each week, kits are discreetly placed in students' backpacks.

It is important that students are able to go outside for recess in all types of weather. In order for your child(ren) to be comfortable outside, please check the weather before sending your child(ren) to school to determine the appropriate clothing. We recommend including extra spring clothing in the backpacks--i.e.: pants, socks, etc.--for those sloppy, wet weather days.

Just a reminder that we do not provide spoons and forks for lunches. There has been a significant increase in students asking for them in our breakfast program kitchen but we do not have these items available. Please make sure spoons/forks are packed in your child's lunch bag daily. Also, students should bring a filled water bottle to school each day.

We just completed a great week of learning! I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the 2 new students who have just recently joined 5A.

Students need indoor shoes.
We encourage parents to have their children at school by 8:20 each morning. This gives them a few minutes to get to class and settled before class officially begins at 8:25 a.m. Our school doors are locked at 8:30 a.m. Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. will need to be buzzed in through the front doors and signed in.
If you are dropping your child off in the morning, staff supervision does not begin until 8:00 a.m. Please do not drop your child off before 8:00 as they would be unsupervised.
For the safety of our students, parents are not permitted past the front lobby during the regular school day. If your child needs help getting to their class, please ask for help in the front office. Our office staff can also call your child up to the office or deliver items to students.
Students will be going outside every day for recess unless it is -20 or higher or it is raining really hard. Please make sure students have appropriate outdoor clothing (mitts, hats, warm coat, snowpants, change of socks, etc.)

Welcome December! Thank you for attending parent-teacher interviews. It was wonderful to meet with you and discuss your child's progress. For this upcoming week, I will not be at school. Ms. Devos will be teaching 5A from Monday to Friday. Water bottles - many students are coming to school daily without a filled water bottle. Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school every day as we do not have access to a drinking fountain, only a water filling station. I have been giving out paper cups but starting Monday, November 6, I will only allow these to be used during our eating times.
5A was successful in winning a pizza party for all of the batteries that were brought in to recycle. Thank you to those who supported this cause. We will have a free pizza lunch on November 23. I will provide a healthy and not-so healthy dessert treat option for this day. If your child is happy with that, you

On Monday, November 6, Prince Street School is fortunate to have the opportunity to watch one of the World Under 17 Hockey games. Your child will need to have a nut-free packed lunch for this day because we will be at the rink during lunch time. The canteen will be open for students. Please do not send any more than $10 - $15 or feel that you must send money. I recommended to the students that they bring their own nut-free treats and use up some of their Halloween candy.

Information for September 25 - 29
It is important for students to arrive on time for school, having time to get settled prepares them for their upcoming day. Announcements are at 8:25 and we begin our learning day at 8:30. Thank you for cooperation with this.
This week we will be adding Math Facts practice to our homework. Also I will be sending information on how to use IXL math at home. Students are encouraged to log in and complete 1 outcome each night.
If students haven’t brought in their indoor shoes and headphones, please try to send these things on Monday.
Please note that I don’t have a microwave in my class. Please double check to make sure that your child has a spoon or fork in their lunches. Water bottles should come to school daily. Thanks for your support with this.
The Terry Fox Run/Walk will be held in the afternoon of Friday, October 6th. In order to raise funds to donate to this worthy cause, students are invited to purchase a freezie for 50 cents. Please send in 50 cents (maximum of 1 freezie per student) on or before Tuesday, October 2nd. Students will enjoy the freezie on the day of the walk. In addition, students will receive a ballot for a chance to win a Terry Fox t-shirt. Small, monetary donations also are accepted.
