Hello Everyone!

It's hard to believe that next week is our final week of classes before Christmas break! It feels like just yesterday I walked into a classroom full of your amazing kids for the first time!

There will be lots going on in the classroom next week. I have a small Christmas themed activity planned for each day, and as a school we will be having theme days to help everyone get in the festive spirit! I will be keeping some of our classroom activities under wraps until the day of, but here are the school-wise theme days!

Monday- Santa/Holiday hat day

Tuesday- Red and Green Day, Holiday dinner day

Wednesday- Jersey Day

Thursday- Christmas PJ day

Friday- Christmas Sweater day

I am really looking forward to the activities planned for the school and in our classroom next week! I already have my sweater waiting for Friday!

Have a wonderful evening!

Ms. Townshend

Some dates to remember:

Wednesday, December 8- After school sports. This will be the last one until the new year

Friday, December 10- Winter concert filming. Feel free to have your child dress up, but this is completely optional.

I will be sending out an email later this week with a couple festive activities our class will be doing next week.

A note about hot lunches:

A lot of students have been showing interest in our hot lunch program. I just want to remind you all it is a pay what you can system form $0 to $5. This program is available for all students, you just have to order! If you wish to order and are having trouble, please reach out! I would love to help you if I know how or find someone who can!

Here is a copy of the science letter that went home yesterday. If you have any of the materials we are looking for, and wish to donate them, we would really appreciate it.

Hello Families!

Our 1/2Y scientists will be starting their first inquiry unit next week!

We will be exploring the world through sensory experiences. Using the guided inquiry process, students will generate their own questions and engage in the inquiry process to develop their understanding of the world around them. We will be observing, collecting, and recording data throughout these experiences. As our unit progresses, students will be working collaboratively to create our very own “Sensational Art Exhibit and Fair”. The students will be responsible for creating centre activities focusing on one of the 5 senses.

There are many things required to have a successful inquiry unit and if anyone has any of the following around home they are looking to get rid of, we would really appreciate having them for our unit:

  • Found objects

  • Yarn

  • Beads

  • Magazines

  • sticks/wooden rods

  • Egg cartons

  • Straws

  • Stir sticks

  • Buttons (loose, random)

  • Natural materials (stones,

  • Cardboard

  • Fabric scraps

  • Tin foil

  • Toothpicks

  • Ribbon

  • Lace

  • Cardboard rolls- paper towel, wrapping paper, toilet paper

  • Tissue boxes

  • Seeds/dried beans

  • Pipe cleaners

  • Paper bags

  • Plastic containers- yogurt, ice cream, sour cream etc

  • Rubber bands

  • Sequins

These are some examples of what we will be using, if you have other items you are willing to part with, any and all small parts donations would be gratefully accepted.

Thank you,

Ms. Townshend

*Please ensure that all recyclables are cleaned prior to bringing them in.

Welcome!

Hello Parent/Guardians and students. I am very excited to be returning to Montague Consolidated. I know transitions can be difficult but I am confident that we will do a great job. I am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you!

This is the website that we will be using moving forward.

Thanks for checking out our site. I will be updating it on a regular basis, so I recommend checking it out often. There is a lot of important information available through the two portals below. Parents and Guardians can find information specific to them through the parent portal. This includes weekly updates, homework, scholastic, school newsletters, etc. As the year continues, you will be able to find to pictures of our artwork and books we are reading through the links at the top of the page.
