We've been doing a novel study on the book Frindle! The students are responsible for reading the chapters on their own and answer the questions by their due date.  They have time in class to do this in class with my support. 

Their chapter questions are helping them practice their recall, making connections, inferencing and making predictions.  All of this is to help build comprehension.
