Resources for Reading

Dear Families,
Reading every day is important for children to develop independence as readers. I would encourage you and your child to set aside a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes each day for reading. During this time your child could read on their own or read a book to a sibling. You could also read to your child.
There are many places to go to find books for your child. We have, in our classroom a variety of books that your child can choose from to read during reading in school and they are welcome to take their book home if they would also like to read it at night. I just ask that they bring it back each day. We will also be going to the school's library every Day 5 and your child can check a book out from there.
I will include links below to other sources for reading material.
Warmly, Sarah

PEI Library System

The provincial library system is an excellent resource for books, magazines and much more. Here is a link with the hours for the library in Hunter River Hunter River Library Hours

The library system also has a many online collections which you can access at any time. PEI Library System

Epic

Epic is an online book library. It allows me to assign books for your child to read and to monitor their progress. They are also able to select books on their own to read. In order to log in to my class library, they need to use the access code. Epic

Scholastic

If you are interested in buying books for your child, you might want to consider Scholastic. They carry many titles that are new and interesting and often at a reasonable price. I will send home flyers periodically during the year, but you can order online at anytime. If you do chose to order online, I would greatly appreciate it if you could use my class code RC284883. If you use my class code, I earn rewards that I use to buy books for our class. Scholastic Canada
