Sight Word Activities

Here are some examples of activities to do with your child when practicing their weekly sight words:

  • Clap, Chant- clap the words, chant the words (use different voices, rhythms, loudness)

  • Flashcards- print out words on index cards and practice recognizing them daily (can be purchased at the dollar store)

  • Print the words with markers or crayons

  • Print the words on the computer

  • Make the words with household objects (pasta, beans, play dough, etc)

  • Memory- play a memory game with each of the words. Copy the words down twice and flip them upside down. Children will learn this activity in class.

  • Flashlight reading- write the words on sticky notes and place them on the wall. Turn down the lights and give your child a flashlight. Have your child shine the light on each word and read them aloud.

Fundations

At the end of each unit, I will be sending home additional practice. Please review the unit with your child.

Also, please keep the duotangs that I sent home at home and continue adding the units to it so it is all in one place.
