During this unit, students have choice for what they are going to do during writing time. New writing choices are introduced, such as how to write a poem, a letter, a fictional story, or how to make a card for someone. Throughout this unit, students need to think about their purpose for writing, as well as their audience. What are you going to create, and who are you creating it for?
The unit began with students learning about fiction. Students learned to think about the character, setting, and plot of their story, and use a graphic organizer to make a plan before writing.
