Many university first-year Math courses, most typically Calculus, require students to write a placement / assessment test. This is used to determine your suitability for taking their courses. Depending on the university, if you fail this test you will either be required to (a) take an extra tutorial class each week, (b) be issued a warning that you will have to work hard to succeed, or (c) drop Calculus and take a non-credit high school refresher course. Different schools have different policies, so check in advance to know what’s coming in September at your chosen school.
