Hi Parents!
I can't believe it's December! We are getting into Christmas mode now! We hav lot's of fun Christmas activities going on over the next few weeks in 1G. Here is a glimpse at what we are doing this week!
Language Arts
We will continue to practice some common oral structures that the students use in class as well as some phrases about their family.
Writing - we are still working on basic phrases with C'est, Je vois, Regarde, J'aime, J'adore and other types of sentences structures. We will continue working on these sentence structures. This week we are learning about different types of fruit and their vegetable preferences.
We are working on Block 2. This week we are finishing up the eu sound (peu, jeu, bleu) and starting the ch sound (chou, chat, chou)
We will be going over reading strategies and the students will practice this in their independent reading time.
Will be working in our literacy centers
Math
We are counting forwards and backwards from 1-40 and 40-1
We are counting by 2's from 2-20
We are wrapping up representing numbers from 1-20 and we will be doing some review on that.
We will be doing some more work on comparing numbers and starting 2D shapes.
We will be working in Math activitiy centers.
Integrated Studies: We are now discussing healthy eating abouts and ways to stay physically active. We are dicsussing how this helps our bodies to function better and how we can prevent sickness.
Important Information
Christmas calendar - I sent home a calendar of Christmas activities. Here are the activities for this week.
Monday - sit with a friend at lunch
Tuesday - Christmas crafts
Wednesday - Holiday hat/hair day
Thursday - Picnic Lunch
Friday - Christmas craft with reading buddies
Christmas Concert: Our concert will be taking place on December 9th at 1:00pm and 6:00pm. Each student will receive 2 tickets per show. I placed the tickets in the report card envelopes. Please send back any extra tickets you have so that they can be redristibuted. Our principal Vanessa will be sending out an email at the beginning of the week explaining how this will work. If any questions please ask. Students are to come dressed in their best concert attire. We will be making festive headbands that students will be wearing on stage.
Homework - I sent home basic homework home in the blue duotangs with details. The students will be doing some simple tasks such as review of letters/ sounds, a book they have made in class, and counting. This week I added in la liste orange in addition to la liste rouge for review. These are sight words that the students have praticed in class. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Clothes- with the weather now a little cooler, please make sure your child is dressed accordingly. I know it can be cooler in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Also, please make sure your child has a change of clothes in their school bag. You never know when they might need something.

Hi Parents,
It was so great to meet you all during Parent-Teacher Interviews and discuss all the great progress your children are making. I value each student in my class and all of their individual accomplishments.
Language Arts

Hi Parents,
I hope everyone had a great Remembrance day and longer weekend. That a long time to have your kids not at school! It was beneficial to get some extra Teacher PD, but I am looking forward to seeing my little friends tomorrow and getting back into the swing of things. We have started Block 2. This week we will finish up the Éé sound (vélo, bébé, été) and will start the Oo sound (fort, bol, os)

We are reviewing numbers 1-40 and we are starting to represent those numbers in different ways such as pictures and using the word spelling in French. This week, we will focus on representing the number that becomes before and after a given number. We will continue this with higher numbers and we will also do some review of all the ways we have learned to represent numbers.
We will be working in Math activitiy centers.
Integrated Studies: This week we continue to talk about how things change. Our focus will be on what is changing outside with the seasons. We will continue this discussion.

Orwell Corner - We will be gonig to Orwell Corner this Thursday. It looks like there might be a little bit of rain, so please make sure your child is dressed for the day. We will mostly be outside as we explore the village. We will be leaving the school at 9am and will be back by 2pm. Please make sure your child is here on time Thursday. Also make sure to pack snacks and lunch as we will be eating there.
School Retakes - School retakes will be on October 23 (this Thursday) before we leave for the field trip at 8:30 am. Please let me know if you would like you child to get a retake.

Integrated Studies: This week we continue to talk about how things change. Our focus will be on what is changing outside with the seasons. We will be looking outside tomorrpw when we go to Cotton Park and have a class discussion on their observations about the Season change.

Important Information
Lost and Found: Please continue to put your child's name in all sweatshirts, jackets, lunch bags, etc. This will enable us to return found items to your child. Our Lost and Found area is at the bottom of the Grade 2 stairs to the right of our main entrance. We will periodically post a video of items currently in the Lost and Found to see if we can return items to their rightful owners.

We had a great first two days of grade one! We are learning lots of new routines, building friendships and getting to know each other. Friday: Cheese Pizza (Stratford Pizza Corner)
Breakfast Program: Our breakfast program begins this week and is open for all students! Toast with butter and toast with jam are always available. Additionally there can be various options such as apples, bananas, cheese or yogurt. Breakfast is available between 8:00 and 8:25 daily.
