Hi Parents,
I hope the weekend went well! We have so much learning on the go this week. Here is a glimpse of our week ahead;
Language Arts
We will begin doing some review of Fall and Thanksgiving themes and vocabulary.
We will work on some little books for Fall and Thanksgiving.
Writing - we have started basic sentences beginning with C'est, Je vois, Regarde, J'aime, J'adore, Il ya. This week we will focus on some writing related to Thanskgiving.
We will be starting a sound/phonics program that will review sounds more explicitly. This week we are focusing on the letters/sound G, Vv, Qq, que, Hhj, Xx and Zz.
Math
We are reviewing numbers 1-20 and we are starting to represent those numbers in different ways such as pictures and using the word spelling in French. This week we are focusing on representing numbers through tally marks.
We will spend some time each afternoon in activity centres, where the students will play in groups with magnets, puzzles, blocks, lego and jenga.
Integrated Studies - This week we start to talk about how things change. Our focus will be on what is changing outside with the seasons.
Important Information
Homework - I sent home basic homework home in the blue duotangs with details. There are still some students arriing without their blue homework duotang. It is important now that they have this on Monday as they get thier homework information for the new week. The students will be doing some simple tasks such as review of letters/ sounds, a book they have made in class, and counting. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Field trip - We are going to Orwell Corner, more info to follow soon.
Library - please return books for Wednesday
Clothes - with the weather now a little cooler, please make sure your child is dressed accordingly. I know it can be cooler in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Also, please make sure your child has a change of clothes in their school bag. You never know when they might need something.

Hi Parents!
I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful Fall weather! We had a great day back at school yesterday. We have a break on Wednesday for National Truth and Reconciliation day. Tomorrow we will be doing some activities connected to that. Here is a glimpse at our week ahead.
Language Arts
We are continuing to do some review of the alphabet, colours and classroom objects.
The students have been making little books that they will begin to take home for review next week for homework.

We will spend some time each afternoon in activity centres, where the students will play in groups with play dough, puzzles, blocks, rings and jenga.
Important Information
Utensils - When packing your child’s lunch, please make sure to include any utensils necessary.
Clothes- with the weather now a little cooler, please make sure your child is dressed accordingly. I know it can be cooler in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Also, please make sure your child has a change of clothes in their school bag. You never know when they might need something.

Language Arts

We will be starting a sound/phonics program that will review sounds more explicitly. This week we are focusing on the letters/sounds Ee, Kk, Cc, Pp,SS, Jj.
Writing - we have started basic sentences begining with C'est, Je vois, Regarde, J'aime, J'adore. The students will create a sentence using colour vocabulary.
Math
We are reviewing numbers 1-20 and we are starting to represent those numbers in different ways. This week we will be focusing on using pictures, the word spelling in French and ten frames.
We will spend some time each afternoon in activity centres, where the students will play in groups with lego, puzzles, blocks and dominos.
Important Information
Terry Fox walk will be happening Friday. We are asking that, if possible, each studen bring in either a toonie or loonie to raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation. You can send it in any day this week. Please place it in a ziplock bag and label your childs name and what it's for.
Please, if you have not already, send in a pair of headphones for your child to use when we use the computers (we'll start in mid-october). With no headphones all the sounds can be heard from computers and it can get kind of loud in the classroom. Preferably headphones and NOT earbuds.
Utensils - When packing your child’s lunch, please make sure to include any utensils necessary. I have some disposable utensils but they get used pretty quickly. If you would like to donate a bag of forks/spoons to the classroom, you are more then welcome.
Change of clothes- please feel free to send in a change of clothes (in a bag). It's always handy to have a spare pair of pants, socks, shirt and undies. We can keep the clothes in the class. Also a reminder to label your kids clothing

Hi Parents!
We had a great start to grade one and a great couples day back this week! We are learning lots of new routines, building friendships and getting to know each other. This week we will continue to practice routines and establish expectations. Here is a glimpse of what we will be doing the rest of the week:
Language Arts
We will be reviewing classroom/school objects and the alphabet.
Last week we started a sound/phonics program that will review sounds more explicity. We have begun reviewing the sounds for the letters Ii,Ll,Oo,Aa,Tt,Nn.
The students are working on making a little backpack with different classroom objects and they will share an write about what is in their backpack.
Math
We are reviewing numbers 1-10.
We are spending some time each afternoon in activity centres, where the students will play in groups with puzzles, blocks, lego and dominos.
Important Information
Meet the Teacher: You're invited to come into our classroom on Wednesday, September 16th from 6:20-6:35pm. This is a great chance to see your child's classroom, meet other parents and I'll have a quick slideshow to go over some information about grade 1!
Footwear: Please ensure your child is able to put on their indoor and outdoor footwear independently (ie - tie laces, or pull up zippers). If they have laces, it's expected they can tie their shoes themselves.
Breakfast Program: Our breakfast program started this week and is open for all students! Toast with butter and toast with jam are always available. Additionally there can be various options such as apples, bananas, cheese or yogurt. Breakfast is available between 8:00 and 8:25 daily.
Hot Lunches: Our Hot Lunch program started this week. To place these orders, you will need to create a new account (even if you had one last year) and place your orders for next week by 9pm tonight (Sunday).
