Hello Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the blog! We had the best first day back, and I am thrilled to have all your little gems!

The month of September will be a lot of review of sounds (single and blended), counting, and most of all...oral language. I will be cutting down on the English being spoken in class from now as the requirement in Grade 2 French Immersion is that they are speaking solely in French with both myself and their peers. They have many opportunities to speak English in music, gym and recess, but in the classroom is where we speak French. I will be working to build their confidence in their second language, and including lots of praise!

A few notes and reminders:

*If you did not yet get a chance to send in all of the information sheets, please send them back as soon as possible. I have to submit them to the office, and I am still short a few. Also a big thank you to all who sent in extra large zipplock baggies and kleenex. Greatly appreciated!

*If you have to get ahold of me, feel free to email  @ lrbradley@edu.pe.ca, to call the school after 3pm, or send a note in your child's lunch bag. Just remind them ahead of time that the note is there and to give it to me.

*Birthday invitations- If you have invitations to send out, please put them in a big ziplock bag with my name on them. I will put them in the children's pochettes. I do not want the children handing them out because I do not want anyone to feel left out if they are not invited. If the invitation is for a child from another class, make sure their first and last name is on the invitation AND the name of the teacher. The school day is very very busy. If I do not know the teacher's name, I cannot distribute. (There are three classes of Grade 2 French Immersion).

*For children being dropped off in the morning, they cannot enter the building until 8am. There is a bell that rings at 8am, and then they can enter.

*Normally within the school day there are two times to eat: snack and lunch. I always give a third. When the children come in first thing in the morning they have the option to eat a healthy snack. No sugar. It can be anything from crackers, cheese string, fruit. yogurt, etc. I find even if they ate breakfast they are still hungry coming in, and some have long bus rides.

*I will not be sending home books until early October. There is a duotang in the pochette with the letters, sounds, reading strategies and numbers. Please keep it in the pochette because we will be taking it out and doing review using this duotang each morning. If you wish to review at home I leave that entirely up to you, but it is not a requirement. Simply an option!

Have a great night!
