*We will be having our PJ Walk for Love on Monday! Thank you for supporting our class in this! The kids were excited and eager to participate and help out other children and their families! Our fundraising page will be active until June 25th. http://support.rmhatlantic.ca/site/TR/Events/General?team_id=1526&pg=team&fr_id=1109

There will be information and permission form for this going home on Monday as well.

We are still preparing for our final week celebrations! It's going to be an exciting week and there will be a few more surprises for the children thrown in there as well!
Homework for the month of June will look a little different (and hopefully fun!). I made a June Homework Bingo that you can complete at your own pace from now until the end of the year! You can initial each box that you complete. I wrote it in English to make it easier for parents. I will still send home books so they have the option for reading as well. I do encourage them to continue with their reading at least a couple of nights throughout the week.
It's that bittersweet time of year so we will be sure to make the best of it in class!

I did open up some time slots for earlier in the week if there is anyone who would like to choose those when you go online to book. A reminder that only one parent is asked to attend and no children. Parents must also wear a mask and you will be entering and exiting from our cohort door (White) which is located below the main entrance, across from the basketball court.
Since it is a short week this week, homework will be a review.
I would like students to review the syllables and sight words that are in their homework duotang.
I would like students to practice counting from 1-60. (I will be sending home a 100's chart in their duotang to help with this).
Students are asked to review the letters of the alphabet and their sounds out of order. You can use the yellow sheet that was sent home near the beginning of the year or you can do this activity whichever way you prefer!
Have a wonderful week!
Please review the Covid Screening Checklist below:
*Over the next few weeks we are going to be working on the vocabulary for family and body parts and we will be incorporating this into our writing as well.
In math we will be continuing to count and skip count while working on identifying and representing numbers.
In reading we continue to work on identifying the first sound in a word and then working to sound out the whole word. Since we have finished reviewing our letters, we are now working on our double sounds like "ou, ch, oi". While we are doing this, it's still a good idea to review their letter names and sounds at home.
Some notes for this week:
Parent Teacher Interviews will be happening (November 19th and 20th). We do ask that you try to limit the number of people attending (small children) if possible and that you wear a mask. You will enter and exit through out cohort doors (White) across from the basketball court. There will be more information to come on this but I just wanted to let you know that they will be going ahead!
A reminder that there is no school next Wednesday (November 11th), Thursday or Friday (PEITF Convention)
Homework this week:
Practice the syllables
Read the weekly message
Reading: This week I will be sending home their Guided Reading book that they have read with me and they have practiced last week.

In math we have been practicing counting and have started skip counting by 2's (to 20), 5's and 10's (to 60). We are working our way up to counting to 100, going up by 10 each week, and this week we are at 70! We have also been working on representing the numbers 1-20 in different ways!
In reading we are working on identifying the first sound in a word and then working to sound out the whole word. Since we have finished reviewing our letters, we are now working on our double sounds like "ou, ch, oi". Here are some notes for this week:
Coupon books are due back on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week!
Friday is fake Halloween! Students will be allowed to dress up (just no props) and we will be having a little celebration on Friday. We are still not able to accept items from home but I will be supplying some goodies for them! :)

Read the book "Eek! J'ai peur!"
I have also sent home our weekly message this week for students to practice at home. We read and work on this every morning in class. I have put the sight words that we are practicing in the message in bold.

Reminder that coupon books went home last week and are due back on October 27th and 28th.
Raz-Kids: Our school was fortunate enough to get a Raz-Kids account for each class. This is a website where students can read French books. It will be used if we are ever to switch to home learning but can also be used if you would like to do some extra reading practice at home. I will continue to send home books that we work on in class for now and in the coming weeks you will see their guided reading and books from their book bags being sent home. The books that I send home for the week will be their homework books but you are always free to add on some Raz-Kids reading whenever you like! The login information for Raz-Kids was sent home in their purple duotang.
Homework:
Letter Formation: I have sent home a tracing sheet for students to practice forming their letters. This can be done on the sheet then repeated on a separate sheet or the tracing sheet can be put in a page protector and you can trace it with a whiteboard marker to make it reusable.
Practice the syllables/sounds that were sent home for this week (it's always good to review the ones from previous weeks as well!)
Practice their sight words from "Liste Rouge" and their letter and numbers in their baggie.
Please review the Covid Screening Checklist:
They will be going home on Wednesday, October 7th and are due back on Tuesday October 27th or Wednesday October 28th. The booklets will be sent home on Monday, November 9th.
Picture day will be on October 20th!
Homework this week:
There are two booklets that we worked on last week that are going home for their reading this week; "C'est" and "Voici une école".
There is another list of syllables going home to practice (we practice these each morning together as well).
I have added a list of sight words that we are working on in class over a two week period (5 a week) in their purple duotang. Feel free to practice these at home!
I will also be sending home a baggie for each student with letters and numbers that they could benefit from reviewing (out of order). I will be reviewing these letters with them and changing them up periodically as well based on their needs. You can expect to see these baggies in their homework bags starting Tuesday.
I believe that is all for this week as of now! I will let you know if anything comes up!
Please see attached the Covid Screening list.
Have a wonderful week!
We will be having our Terry Fox Run during gym class on Wednesday of this week. If you would like to make a donation you can send in a loonie or toonie before Thursday of this week.
Wednesday, September 30th is also Orange Shirt Day.
Every Child Matters is a movement that is sweeping our country and YOU are invited to become a part of it! At six years old, Phyllis Webstad was excited about starting school. Her grandmother took her shopping and Phyllis picked out a shiny orange shirt to wear on the first day of residential school. Her new shirt was taken from her on that first day and she never saw it again. Phyllis' story is similar to many residential school survivors. Held annually on September 30th, this day honours these survivors of Indian Residential Schools. Please consider participating in Orange Shirt Day this year.
We are asking when you place your orders with the PEI Healthy School Food Program, that you put your child's grade/number instead of the teachers name. We have teachers who have the same first and last names, which makes is difficult to get the lunches to the correct classes. Our class is 1I.
If you have headphones that you are able to send in for when we use the Chromebooks it would be greatly appreciated. :)
Homework this week:
Students can continue to review their letters and numbers to 20
I have sent home a booklet that we have practiced in class for them to read at home this week called "Voici". This book can stay at home.
There is a list of syllables for them to practice to help with putting sounds together. We practice these each morning as well so they should be familiar with them!
A reminder to review the Covid Screening Checklist located below.
Have a fantastic week!
Happy Monday!
A few notes for this week:
Picture Day will be at a later date this year and I will let you know when we know that date.
Orange Shirt Day is on September 30th, students are encouraged to wear orange on that day.
We will begin using the Chromebooks in class so if you had any headphones at home that you could send in with your child that would be a big help!
Homework this week (found in their purple duotang) is to practice identifying the numbers 1-20 in French (out of order) and to practice identifying letters of the alphabet out of order as well. I am sending home a yellow sheet that they can use to help with this. This sheet can stay at home. I have also attached our weekly message that they can practice or pick letters and words out that they are able to identify.
In class this week we will continue practicing our letters and their sounds, counting and our numbers 1-20, and developing our oral language.
Have a fantastic week!
Happy Monday everyone!
I sent some homework home in their purple agendas for this week but it is mainly just doing some review and practice. I am asking them to practice identifying letters of the alphabet (I sent a sheet home to help with pronunciation) and their numbers 1-20 (there is also a sheet for the numbers). I did send home the message that we will be practicing every morning but I don't expect them to read it. We practiced picking out words and letters that they recognize so they can do that at home if they like!
This week in school we will be continuing to work on getting into our routines and finding our groove! In math we will continue our work on counting (1-20) and identifying these numbers. We will also be working on identifying our letter names and sounds along with writing them. Our reading and writing workshop routines will be starting this week as well! It will be a busy week but they are adjusting well!
Just a reminder of our screening checklist located below:
Have a wonderful week!
