4Z Updates

Oct. 27, 2020

Halloween is quickly approaching! On Friday October 30th, students are invited to wear their Halloween costume to school. Face paint and certain accessories are permitted but weapons and Halloween masks are not. 4Z will have a class party and we will be wrapping up the day with school-wide BINGO! Families are welcome to send in nut-free treats but please note that anything sent to school MUST BE INDIVIDUALLY PACKAGED OR BAGGED. Please don’t hesitate to contact me via email if you have any questions.

It’s hard to believe we are already in our second month of the school year! Here are a couple of updates for you all :

Home Communication :

Upon further reflection, I’ve decided to switch up how the courier bag and communication duotang are used. Previously, I said these items would be kept at school but I believe they are better kept in your child’s school bag. Your child will take their courier bag and duotang into the classroom each morning and will return them to their school bag at the end of the day. Student usernames and passwords are kept in their duotang. If your child would like to access these accounts from home I’d like for that information to be available to them.

Homework :

Unfinished classwork will now be sent home with students to complete as homework. Students are given ample time to finish their work in class and I do not want to keep students in during the recess as these breaks are an important part of the day. If your child has work to complete it will be written on a homework log, found in the communication duotang. The work sent home is not expected to be complete in one evening. Have your child work at it, as you see fit, until complete. Please remember that school materials (such as math workbooks, duotangs/binders, etc.) sent home must be returned to school each day. These materials are used in class, typically, on a daily basis.

Important Dates :

November 11 Remembrance Day - No classes for students

November 12-13 Annual Teachers’ Convention - No classes for students

November 16 School Photos

November 19-20 Parent-Teacher Interviews - No classes for students Nov. 20 only!

November 27 PD Day - No classes for students

Be on the lookout this week for information regarding online Scholastic book order and how you can get free shipping on orders over $35!

With Monday, Oct. 12th being Thanksgiving, I want to remind families there will be no classes for students that day.

Sadly due to COVID, our school is unable to hold its annual Food Drive for Thanksgiving but if you would like to make an online donation to the Upper Room please visit : https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/7254

Enjoy the long weekend. Happy Thanksgiving!

The school will be having a Fun Day on Friday, Oct. 9th to celebrate all of the hard work that went into making September a success! The day will include school-wide bingo, special treats (local apples, ice cream and popsicles), and to top it all off, it’s also cRaZy DrEsS uP day! Crazy dress up can be anything your child would like it to be. When discussed in class, some student generated ideas were wearing pajamas, many hats and wild colours, etc.

Today your child will be coming home with an information letter (see link below). This can be kept at home for you to reference throughout the year.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

We survived our first (short) week at school! This is a quick update to inform you that your child is coming home today with all of the information forms that must be reviewed, signed and returned to school as soon as possible.

Have a great weekend!

We made it through our first day back! I hope all students enjoyed their return to school as much as I did!

Just a couple of things to note:

  • Information sheets, to be signed and returned to school, will be sent home in the coming days. Nothing was sent home today with students.

  • If there are any remaining school supplies at home please send them in, as you see fit, by the end of the week.

Welcome to 4Z!

My name is Mme Kayla Fraser and I will be your child’s teacher this year. Please note that we are a split grade level class of grade three and four students. With new guidelines surrounding physical distancing and health measures, here is a list of things that will be happening to ensure a successful entry to school.

      1. Please label all your child’s belongings. Each item should have your child’s name on it. For crayons, markers and pencils, please label the box they come in.

      2. We understand that there is a lot of school supplies to send in. We encourage you to send a bit each day during the first week of school.
For the first day of school, please send :

  • Indoor sneakers

  • Water bottle

  • Pencil case with pencils, markers, crayons, scissors, and glue

  • As many other supplies as your child can carry safely. Send the remainder over the rest of the week.

      1. Students are required to wear a mask on the school bus.

      2. If possible, please send two masks each day in a paper or cloth bag.

      3. Once at school, students will be lining up, as usual, by homeroom. Our homeroom line can be found by the doors to the left of the front of the building. Look for the line marked 4Z.

I look forward to being your child’s teacher this year,

Mme Kayla
