Homeroom Parent Letter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to another school year! My name is Krista MacNeill and I am your child’s homeroom teacher. This is my twentieth year of teaching on Prince Edward Island, and my sixth year at East Wiltshire. I look forward to being your child’s teacher this year. I will do my best to provide your child with the opportunity to learn how to take effective notes, practice their skills, figure out strategies to help them study, and develop new technology skills as they go. At times, they will be given notes, handouts and reviews to support their learning, and I will post these materials in Google Classroom. 

• I will teach your child math and science. I will be your first point of contact for the school year. If your child needs anything or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. My e-mail address is klmacneill@edu.pe.ca  and the school’s phone number is 902-368-4130. 

• I will be communicating with the classes I teach through Google Classroom, and occassional mass e-mails. I will do my best to keep you up to date and informed throughout the school year. Please check in with your child often.

• Throughout the school year, if you have specific subject area questions or questions for the administration, please contact them directly. For specific subject area teachers their e-mail addresses can be found on the school website under the Staff Contacts tab.

• We will be sending home some forms for you and your child to fill out along with some forms via email for you and your child to read. We ask that you fill out the forms and return them to school along with the student fees as soon as possible (etransfer is now available for student fees). You should receive each of the following forms.

Student Fees:

Student Fee -$25 per student or $40 for a family

• It is helpful to get familiar with East Wiltshire Website.

• The Student Handbook is located on East Wiltshire’s site under Home and School tab. It is important to review the policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook with your child.

• Many of the teachers have homework blogs linked from East Wiltshire’s main site. You may wish to subscribe to these blogs as well. You can find them listed under the About EWS tab.

PowerSchool

• PowerSchool is the program now being used at EWS for all student attendance and grades. There is a link to it on the school website.

Reminders:

• Please send your child to school with a snack and lunch or money to buy both. Students need to bring a water bottle. 

• Grade 8 and 9 students are allowed to leave school property at lunch if you send in the form indicating that you give them permission to do so. 

• East Wiltshire is a nut and scent free school. We are equipped with a breakfast program which will start up soon.
