Le mardi 10 juin

Here's our day!

Le français 7C - After class evaluations and a phrase game, the students completed a listening comprehension activity and we prepped for a reading comprehension activity. 

Le français 7D - After class evaluations and a phrase game, we completed a little elson on the partitif and I introduced a final oral assessment the students will completed next week. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We worked with the review page of questions, the students reviewed the government with a handout with a diagram  showing the roles of the government and how they are connected. We ended the class with the comparaison assignment where the students compared the norms and government structure of Canada to that of Ancient Rome. Those students who were absent will need to complete the assignment for homework.

Le français 7C & 7D - We completed our Qui suis-je ? activity using the phrases the students had prepared. We recorded an oral assignment, Ma ville, using the vocaroo application. We ended the class with some work in the grammar cahier. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We started the class with some review using the review page of questions. We reviewed the government notes in the cahier to complete the questions on the review page of questions. We then compared the family structure and norms between Ancient Athens and Rome. We are going to use this information for an assignment on Monday.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and a phrase activity, the students worked on corrections for the ma ville assignment. I wanted to do one last correction before they record themselves. We focused the last few activities in the grammar cahier. We will need a few more days to complete the cahier. Episode 24 is to be completed for homework!!

Les sciences humaines 7C & 7D - We practiced with the review page of questions. We then returned to the unit 4 cahier to work on the last few notes and questions on the roman government.

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students worked on some grammar activities in the grammar cahier. We focused on Bescherelle work and the negation. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We worked with a new review of questions and then we worked with a video discussing the daily life in Ancient Rome. We answered some questions in our notes and ended the class with a quick lesson on the government. We will review the govern notes more to ensure understanding. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We reviewed the review page of questions and we shared our answers for the mythology, fresco and video activities from the previous class.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students reviewed the structure for the négation and we applied this understanding to some grammar work. We are preparing some phrases about ourselves using the negation that will be applied to a little game in class. Video homework is due tomorrow!!!!!

Les sciences humaines 7D - We worked with the new review page of questions and reviewed the mythology information from yesterday. We returned to the visual analysis activity using Roman frescos and then a video on the social life in Ancient Rome. I returned the quiz from last week and we discussed some of the questions on the quiz. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We started with a study in the beginning of the Roman Empire and its political regimes. We organised a summary in the cahier and began reviewing the social structure using a graphic organiser. I returned the quiz and we had enough time to discuss the pertinent questions on the quiz.

Les sciences humaines 7A - We wrote our first quiz for the unit, our geography quiz. We moved into the social structure/hierarchy and social groups using pages 137, 138, and 139 (Questions 1 and 2). 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We started with a review activity of the social structure and citizenship in ancient Rome. We used pages 133, 134, 136 and 137 to study the government structure and applied our understanding of the structure using question 1 on page 139 and the resume activity on page 134. 

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students reviewed the structure of the homework assignment last week. We participated in a rotational conversation activity where the students shared their ma ville assignment with a partner. We used some samples and completed some notes. We used the samples and notes to correct any mistakes we may have had on our homework assignment. I assigned a homework video for the week, Épisode 23.

Le fançais 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed their good copy of the Ma ville assignment. We completed a review activity for using a Bescherelle to remind ourselves of the strategies and then applied it to a pop quiz and an activity in the grammar cahier. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - The students completed their first quiz in the fourth unit on Italian geography. We continued our study of the government of the Roman empuire in the cahier, pages 132, 133, 134 and 135.

Le français 7C & 7D - After a conversation activity, the students completed some reading comprehension activities. We started working on a writing assignment where the students are to prepare a paragraph describing their neighbourhood/village. There is a sample from class in the google classroom and here on this site -  Mon quartier -. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We began the final unit of the course. The students completed a map of the Italian peninsula, analysed some photos from the Roman region and began working on advantages of the area's geography. We scheduled a quiz on the topic for Monday, May 26.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and some new phrases for our phrase wall, the students reviewed the futur proche with a quiz activity that other students developed. We continued with the passé récent writing some phrases with word banks and then using the passé récent within specific contexts. We are going to use their ideas for an activity tomorrow. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We reviewed their ideas of democracy in Canada versus democracy in Ancient Athens. We then began working with the new unit on Rome. We're focusing on geography. We completed the map and did some work in a new cahier for the fourth unit. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We reviewed using the review page of questions. We then completed the good copy of our comparing Canada with Ancient Athens using our notes on the social structure and the government structure. We ended the class with an activity in the google classroom that had the students comparing more deeply the government structure. The students were presented with further details and then found similarities and differences between the two.

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations, the students completed a conversation activity using the future proche. The students prepared their own question using a similar format to show their understanding of futur proche. We started a little work sheet to apply our understanding of the grammar rules for futur proche. 

Les sciences humaines 7D & 7C - We completed a mini review activity using the review page of questions. I collected the visual assignment for the unit and we completed and review the notes in the cahier (pages 120 et 121). We began comparing the democratic structure of the governments in Ancient Athens and Canada.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations, the students focused on a grammar lesson for the verbs Être and Avoir. We completed three pages of the grammar cahier to test our understanding of the rules. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We worked with the review page of questions and then had time to work on the visual project. Our class was cut short due to a presentation from the Easter Seals. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - After some work with the review of questions, the students received an introduction to a visual assignment. We were a bit rushed but we will use the next few classes to work on the assignment so that students can ask questions and I can monitor their progress.

Les sciences humaines 7C & 7D - The worked with the review page of questions and we discussed some of the questions to affirm our understanding. We were able to dive into the mini visual project. The students will be working on this in class for the next few classes. 

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations the students worked with some phrase wall conversations some classmates have created. We then returned to our possessive adjectives notes and corrected our errors in the work book.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and our phrase conversation, the students completed the workbook pages on articles and we completed the practice quiz for possessive adjectives in the google classroom. Those who were absent can complete the quiz for homework. ÉPISODE 21 IS FOR HOMEWORK!!!!

Les sciences humaines 7C & 7D - The students received a new review page of questions to help them with the new concepts of democracy, government institutions and public spaces for the government institutions. We reviewed how this is organised in Canada and complete the notes on page 99 and 100 in the cahier.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations, the students applied their understanding of the phrase wall phrases to a conversation activity. We returned to the grammar cahier and the students continued their work with definite and indefinite articles. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We reviewed the quiz that the students had written last week. We then reviewed the concept of democracy and began organising the information around government institutions and how they operated in the city of Athens in the cahier (Les page 98 à 101).

Les sciences humaines 7D - We then reviewed the concept of democracy and began organising the information around government institutions and how they operated in the city of Athens in the cahier.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students worked on some lessons and activities on articles. We completed some work in a grammar cahier using vocabulary from the classroom and the articles lesson. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We started with a review activity applying the information from the most recent quiz. We will review the quiz tomorrow. We continued our lesson on democracy and began looking into the role of government. We did a little activity looking at the differences between municipal, provincial and federal governments. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - After a little review activity, the students discussed democracy and the role of government. Using yesterday's lesson, the students organised charts listing the responsibilities of government and how we can see this in the initial government of Ancient Athens.

Les sciences humaines 7C & 7A - We wrote our second quiz for the third unit. We then continued our study into Athenian democracy. We worked with the cahier, highlighted some key points and discussed the function of government. 

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students continued their work on their comparative phrase assignment. We will presenting our ideas later in the week. Épisode 20 has been uploaded and will need to be completed!!

Les sciences humaines 7D - We completed a second quiz for the unit. We then did some source analysis for the topic of government and Athenian democracy. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - After some brief work with the review page of questions, the students compared information on the city state of Sparte and compared it to what we know about Athens. We began our lesson on democracy and government. We did reschedule the quiz for Monday due to the school cancellation on Monday this week. The students received some information today that will be included in the quiz. 

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed the destination activity and applied their understanding of comparative phrases.

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students worked with the comparative phrase and adjective lessons as they compared provincial tourism campaigns. It is following a bracket system, so we will continue tomorrow with their preferences. Épisode 19 is posted and to be completed for Friday morning. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - After some work with the review page of questions, the students did a photo analysis that we will use during tomorrow's class. We then started a lesson on democracy and how it compares to authoritarian governments.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students did some work with adjectives. We looked at sample adjectives and completed a lesson on according adjectives to their subject. A presentation has been uploaded for the students to review. 

Les sciences humaines 7A & 7C - We started with some work on the review of questions. We then continued our comparaison activity as the students compared the lives of men and women in Ancient Athens. We then started into some work in the cahier, page 105 where we are to summarise the information on pages 102 to 104.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evauations and some activities with the phrase wall, the students received the reading comprehension that they had completed on Thursday. We discussed the questions quickly and went over a strategy one could use on future reading comps. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We started with a quick review activity using the review page of questions. We then completed a partner activity where the students compared the lives of boys and girls in Ancient Athens. the students used the information we highlighted in the cahier. We ended the section on the roles of métèques and esclaves in the cahier. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We started with the quiz and then completed the note pages in the cahier on the roles of women, children, métèques and esclaves. We will use this information the next class.

Le français 7D - The students completed a self evaluation in preparation for tomorrow's parent/teacher interviews. We completed a phrase competition and ended the class with a reading comprehension activity. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We reviewed our review page of questions and reminded ourselves that we have a quiz scheduled for Wednesday, March 12. We completed a self-evaluations and shared the ideas from our geography activity from yesterday. We started into the lesson on social groups but we will need another class for that lesson. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - After the self-evaluations, the students did some extra review to prepare for tomorrow's quiz!! We started into the lesson on social groups but we will need another class for that lesson. 

Le français 7C - After the self evaluations, the students completed the phrase competition and evaluated the poster assignments prepared by their classmates in 7D.

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations and our phrase competition, the students received their email assignment with corrections to make for a final draft. They we given the reminder of the class to complete their poster assignment. We will begin using the posters for a conversation activity during tomorrow's class. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - After some time with the review page and another round of our mythology game, the students began looking into the social groups of ancient Greece. We did some work in the cahier, but we will need another class to complete the notes. Geography quiz is scheduled for Monday, March 10!!

Les sciences humaines 7C - We did a quick review of the map of Greece and then worked on the review page of questions. We played the first round of the mythology game and then worked on questions in the cahier for the third unit.

Le français 7D & 7C - The students completed the class evaluations and phrase review and then typed their Ma réponse assignment in the google classroom. We ended with a mini tutorial on the Google Drawing Application. We will be using it tomorrow. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - After some review and a reminder of our quiz (le jeudi 6 mars), the students discussed their ideas for the city-state activity in the google classroom. We then completed an atlas activity that had the students exploring maps to find the correct answers. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - After some review with the review page of questions, we assigned a geography quiz for Monday, March 10. We then worked with the mythology activity from Monday and then we ended the class with some work in the  cahier - pages 86 to 89.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed a phrase activity and a quick conversation activity. We returned to the letter assignment and the students organised their response to the sample letter of a student dealing with some stress.

Les sciences humaines 7C - The students completed a map of Greece and we began analysing the map using google maps and images. We then began identifying the advantages and disadvantages of the Greek geography. We will share our answers tomorrow.

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students returned to their email assignment where they are to write a short email to a friend talking about some stress they have going on in their life. The goal is to practice using their Bescherelle notes to help them build their email. They wrote their first draft in class. 7D began typing their good copy but we will use some of tomorrow's class to complete this. 7C began writing their first draft and if it was not completed in class, they will need to complete it for homework. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We began our study into the next unit on Ancient Athens. We are studying the geography of Greece and how it will impact Greek societies. We watched a video and used Google Earth to give ourselves a better understanding. We also discussed the project briefly - remember the due date is Tuesday, February 25.

 Les sciences humaines 7D - We discussed on visual project that is due tomorrow. We then reviewed the map of Greece and began identifying the advantages and disadvantages of its geography. The presentation has been uploaded for those students who were absent.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and a little phrase competition, the students learned the phrasing for stress reducing stratégies. We applied our learning from the Bescherelle lesson on Thursday and Friday and added another conversation question to our unit notes. The documents have been uploaded to this site for the students who were absent. Do not forget the video!!

Les sciences humaines 7C - We did an in-depth discussion of the unit assignment. We looked at the samples the students prepared last week and how we can apply the same strategies to our own projects. The students began organising their ideas  in a rough draft and we began addressing any issues we were encountering. I returned the comparison assignment that the students completed last class and allowed any students unhappy with their mark to resubmit their corrections.

Le français 7C & 7D - We completed a conversation activity and then a phrase review. We then returned to our ma faiblesse assignment where students made some corrections to their writing and began providing suggestions to another student's unhealthy weakness. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - The students returned to their comparison assignment, share their ideas with a partner and then began writing their good copy. Those students unable to complete their good copy will need to complete it for homework. Then, I introduced the visual assignment we will complete to end our unit. We looked at the outline, the goal and rubric of the project and worked on a sample project to gain a better understanding of the expectations.

Le français 7C & 7D - We completed the first half of a lesson on the Bescherelle. The goal is to build our understanding of the verb guide so that we are able to use it on future assignments. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We completed a quick review activity and then did a deep dive into our final assignment for the unit. We looked at the rubric and did a sample project using the Canadian society. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We started with a discussion of the comparison assignment. The students found a partner and shared answers. They completed a good copy. Those who did not complete the good will need to complete it for homework. I introduced the final project for the unit. We will need tomorrow's class to really go over the assignment and the rubric.

Le français 7C & 7D - After a conversation activity, the students competed in a phrase contest and we discussed the grammar for writing a suggestion. The students then prepared a mini paragraph identifying a weakness in their life that compromises their health - like M. Beaton and cookies. We will use this information next week. The presentation is here on the site for those students who were absent. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - The students completed their quiz for the unit. We then explored some of the social norm in Canada and began comparing them to those of Ancient Egypt. They have responsibility to identify where we are similar and where we are different. The students began a first draft that will need to be done for next Friday, February 7. We will do a good copy in class. The presentation with the information can be found in the google classroom.

Le français 7C - We changed the format for the class evaluations! The students are now asking and answering the questions! We reviewed our phrases and the students began applying some new phrases to share what one must do or cannot do to have a healthy lifestyle. We will use these ideas for the next assignment. Remember to record your video!!!

Les sciences humaines 7C -  - We began with the review page of questions and reminded ourselves that we have our quiz scheduled for Wednesday, January 29. We completed our notes on the symbols of Ancient Egypt and began discussing social norms. We will be doing an assignment where we compare the Canadian society with the ancient society.

Le français 7D & 7C - We had our Friday Conversation activity and then reviewed our phrases. We went over the structure for the message assignment, practiced the questions with a partner and examined a sample project. The students then prepared their paragraph to be recorded next week. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We started with the review page of questions and scheduled a little quiz for that page of questions for Friday, January 31. We shared our ideas for the photo analysis we had completed the previous class and corrected our Ça existait? activity. We began exploring the symbols of Ancient Egypt but we will need another class to complete this.

Here's our day!

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed a small suggestion activity. Using a list of suggestions developed by other students, they choose their favourite for a particular scenario. Just a little activity to practice the grammatical phrasing for giving a suggestion. We then worked on a conversation activity to introduce specific phrases to prepare for our next assignment, a voicemail assignment. The presentation used is available here on the website for those who were absent. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - After some work with the review page of questions, the students shared their answers for the photo analysis activity. We then began a study on important symbols of Ancient Egypt and how they came to be important. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We worked through the review page of questions and then completed another source analysis where the students looked at artifacts from Egypt and connected them with particular social groups. We ended the class identifying whether certain objects or activities were available in Egypt during the ancient time we are currently studying. The sheet and presentation are on the site for those students who were absent.

Le français 7D & 7C - The students completed the class evaluations and phrase review. We completed a reading comprehension and then discussed the homework. The students are to record themselves reading their Mon athlète préféré assignment to receive an oral production grade. 

Les sciences humaines 7D & 7A - After some work on the review page of questions, the students shared their answers for the source analysis. We ended the class with a look at some Egyptian mythology and had a little competition.

Here's our day!

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed their surveys asking their classmates for their choice of the two options that they had prepared. We returned to our Mon athlète préféré assignment and corrected the mistakes identified by M. Beaton. We are going to return to this assignment again. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - The students received and worked on the review page of questions. We then started the image analysis activity applying the information on the social groups handout that they had received the previous class. We will use the next class to share our ideas.

Le français 7C & 7D - After a conversation activity, the students participated in a phrase wall activity. We then learned some new vocabulary for daily activities and hobbies. We added them to our notes and then began looking at some ideas for a future survey activity. The presentation ahs been added to the site for those students who were absent. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - The students began working with the Unit 2 workbook that introduces the ancient societies, specifically Ancient Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. We then worked with one of th emain concepts for the unit - writing. We focused on Ancient Egypt's hieroglyphes to begin understanding the culture of Ancient Egypt.

Le français 7C & 7D - After the class evaluations and some activities with our phrase walls, the students continued their mon athlète préféré assignment. The students prepared their first draft to be ready for peer editing tomorrow. Those who did not finish their first draft in class today will need to complete it for homework. We then began looking at a sample and identifying the common mistakes to prepare for our peer editing. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We returned directly to our hieroglyphes activity and then began looking at the economic activities and social groups of Ancient Egypt. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We reviewed the climate graphs and continued our analysis activity using climate graphs for Charlottetown and Cairo. The students prepared conclusions comparing the two climates. The students received their workbook for the second unit and we began identifying the important information on the initial pages.

Here's our day!

Le français 7C & 7D - After the class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed a conversation activity using vocabulary from the week prior to the break. We then set up a video application for the students to begin recording videos for future assignments (scre.io). After organising the application on the chromebooks, I've asked the students to test the application at home to get a little more comfortable with the application. 

Les sciences humaines 7A & 7C - We reviewed the climate graphs and continued our analysis activity using climate graphs for Charlottetown and Cairo. The students prepared conclusions comparing the two climates.

Les sciences humaines 7C & 7D - The students completed their first quiz of unit 2 focused on Egyptian geography. We continued our study of climate graphs and applied our understanding to climate graphs for Charlottetown and Cairo. 

Le français 7D - The students completed their class evaluations and phrase review. We then discussed the reading comprehension activity and returned to our descriptive phrases for the sports and used them for some game prep. 

Le français 7C - The students completed the compass survey. We had a little time to complete a second 'quiz' that applied the phrases for jouer and faire and sports. 

Le lundi 16 décembre

Here's our day!

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students worked on the 'quiz' for Jouer ou Faire, the new phrases when talking about the sports we like to play. We are now working descriptive phrases for our preferred sports. The students received a new list of vocabulary and phrases they can use to apply to their preferred. We will be applying these phrases on a future assignment. 

Les sciences humaines 7A & 7D - We started with some work on our review page of questions. The students quizzed a partner and then we discussed the questions and the map as a group. We then began reading climate graphs to give ourselves a sense of the climate of different parts of the world and how to read for temperature and precipitation on the graph. We have our quiz this week - study!!

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students continued presenting their argument for the better sport. We then looked at further phrases we can use to describe our preferred sports. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We reviewed using the review page of questions. We then looked at more maps of the fertile crescent region. We started reading climate graphs to further our understanding of geography. 

Les sciences humaines 7D -  We worked with the map of the Nile Valley area. We labeled it and completed some review questions based on the information in the map. We reviewed our notes from the photo analysis activity we had worked on the previous class. 

Le lundi 9 décembre

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed a listening comprehension activity for powerschool and then we organised our ideas for our debate activity. Those students who did not complete their good copy of ideas, will need to do so for homework to be ready for tomorrow's presentation. 

Les sciences humaines 7C & 7A - We reviewed the geography notes and returned to our images of ancient Egypt. We talked about what we identified in each image and watched a video to give us a better idea of the Egyptian geography. We end the class with some work on the map of Nile valley and began identifying key geographic features in the area.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students practiced sharing reasons for their prefered sports. The students then prepared a survey of two sports and develop a hypothesis for what choice they anticipate the class will prefer. It gave us a chance to practice the phrase je pense que.... 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We started with a geography/map activity to practice reading maps. We then moved into a geography photo analysis using photos from Egypt.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students began the third unit on Sports and Activities. We are repeating some similar phrasings from the second unit, sharing what we like and the reasons for liking it. Épisode 11 is now available for the students to complete. 

Les sciences humaines 7A & 7D - We continued our practice of reading and exploring maps. We completed a geography activity and then began identifying the advantages and disadvantages of natural elements we'd find in Canadian geography.

Here's our day!

Les sciences humaines 7C - We completed a quick review of the Canadian map. We went over the answers for the Trip Across Canada activity and we began looking into geography and its impact on societies. The quiz has been marked and posted to Powerschool.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and some new phrases for our phrase wall, the students received a sample of the final project, a dialogue assignment for the second unit. We worked through the sample and started writing our own copy. They handed in what they've completed thus far and we will continue tomorrow. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - The students completed their Canadian map quiz and were given their paragraph assignment. They had the time to go through my corrections and suggestions. Those students who did not complete their corrections have until Friday to complete them.

Les sciences humaines 7A - The students completed a short review activity to prepare for Friday's quiz. They then received the second draft of their writing assignment for the first unit. The second draft included corrections and suggestions to improve their writing. They then had the chance to return to the document and make the necessary adjustments. We ended with a Trip Across Canada activity to study up on Canadian geography and it also served as some extra help for our quiz. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We completed a little review activity to prepare for tomorrow's quiz. The slideshow is located on this site to help students with their studying. We then completed a map handout, an Amazing Race type activity that had the students reading and using two maps of Canada in a classroom text.

Le français 7C & 7D - The students are working on a lesson with Mlle Bentley on food compromises.

Le français 7C & 7D - The students completed a self-evaluation in preparation for tomorrow's Parent-Teacher Interviews. We then completed our lunchtime evaluations that were prepared by the other class. 

Les sciences humaines 7C & 7D - We completed a little review activity to prepare for our quizzes next week (7D's quiz got moved! Je suis désolé). We then began typing our paragraph response in the google classroom. Many students were able to complete their paragraphs and those who did not will need to complete this for homework as M. Beaton will be assessing the first drafts and making notes on the weekend.

Les sciences humaines 7D et 7A - We reviewed questions 19 to 39 and discussed our upcoming quiz. 7D has their quiz on Thursday, November 21 and 7A has their quiz scheduled for Friday, November 29. We returned to our work book and the students completed their ideas for the paragraph assignment. We will begin typing our first draft the next class. 

Le français 7C - The students completed the class evaluations and phrase review. We then turned to a sample lunch of a friend and developed suggestions to replace her choices. With a partner, the students shared their ideas and they came to an agreement on the better option - their own or their partner's. We will use these ideas during tomorrow's class. 

Le français 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students evaluated the suggestions presented by the 7C students. They identified the strengths and weaknesses of their ideas and scored the final product. We will need some more time to complete the evaluations.

Le français 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed three activities focusing on vocabulary to describe restrictions while applying the phrases and questions we've been practicing in class. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We worked on the review page of questions, focusing first on questions 19 to 26 and then we tested a partner on the provincial capitals, questions 27 to 39. We scheduled a quiz for Thursday, November 21. The quiz will be on the provincial capitals and the provinces and territories. To help with their studies, the students received some homework, identifying the provinces and territories on a map handout that was distributed today. We worked on our paragraph assignment for the first unit using a guide and key questions. We completed two questions today and will complete the next two questions next class.

Le français 7C - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students worked on the vocabulary, question and answer for requesting a suggestion. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - The students received a new page of review questions; we completed questions 16 to 21. We then returned to our dodgeball activity as a means of introducing the concept of hierarchy and we examined some evidence to support the idea of hierarchy during the Neolithic period.

Le français 7C & 7D - The students completed another round of class evaluations and phrase review. We continued into the phrases necessary for a conversation in a restaurant and applied some study of a menu, reasons for our choices and a sample dialogue for the students to use as reference. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - The students worked on a new review page of questions. We then worked on questions 1, 2 and 3 on page 32 of the workbook. We ended the class with a team activity and the students will learn how their ideas are to be applied to the concept of social structure.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students received their listening comprehension assignment and we discussed the correct answers and rewatched the video. The students were then introduced to the first polite form we will be studying in class. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We worked through the review page of questions and then returned to the workbook. The students were introduced to the concepts of division of work, private property and trade. We completed the summary activity on page 31 of the workbook.

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed a ranking activity for a select group of beverages. We used this information for a conversation activity where students could ask for preference and reasons why. We then completed our first listening comprehension activity using a short video where three friends are discussing sandwich options at a food truck. 

 Les sciences humaines 7D - The students completed their first quiz today. We then worked on a reading comprehension activity using some information of ancient villages in our text. The students completed a table of information that can be found in the google classroom - code is mk7ysl5. The information for the villages is on page 28. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We have our first quiz tomorrow!! We reviewed using the review page of questions and then we returned to our workbook. We completed the summary notes on page 31 and then started to apply this information to questions 1, 2, 3 and 5 on pages 32 and 33.

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students worked on some new questions and answers to share likes and preferences. We are now using beverages as our topic of conversation. Épisode 5 is available for the weekly homework. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We scheduled a quiz for ourselves for Monday, October 28. The students will be using the review page of questions to guide their studying (questions 1 to 11). We then returned to the workbook and completed the summary diagram on page 25.

Les sciences humaines 7D - We completed some further questions on the review page of questions (Qs 12 - 15). We then continued our study of the Neolithic era and we used the notes of the workbook to identify the key ideas and information. We highlighted the key ideas and we will use these key ideas to complete a comprehension activity.

Le français 7D & 7C - After our class evaluations and phrase review, the students prepared their arguments for tomorrow's debate activity. They had a peer review their work and they practiced with a partner. They are assigned to review their ideas for homework to work on pronunciation. We then started into some negation, talking about what we do not like to eat.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students completed a rotation conversation activity where they shared their argument for the best snack. They listened to a partner's ideas and decided if they agreed or disagreed. I then introduced the second part of the activity where they will debate with another student as to whose snack is the better snack. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We worked on the review page of questions and the students received a second sheet with further questions based on what we had previously studied. We continued into the workbook and completed some comprehension questions on page 15 for the information presented on page 12 and 13.

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students returned to their survey assignment and practiced their question again. We were able to develop a conclusion based on the results of the survey question. We then began completing a little converational assignment where the students prepare an argument for the best snack. We are applying our lesson of reasons to support our opinion. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We reviewed using the review page of questions. We then continued into our workbook and completed the questions on pages 14 and 15. We were able to move onto the beginning of our study of the Neolithic Age. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - We reviewed with the review page of questions and then I shared their ideas for our photo analysis activity. We then focused on the workbook and our first major question to be researched - how did the first societies organise themselves?. The students completed a practice quiz type assignment that had them read and identify the pertinent information from page 12 and 13. We completed questions 1, 2 and 3 on page 14

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students worked on the questions for unit 2, talking about what we like or not like to eat for a snack. We reviewed the phrases for giving a reason for their choice. We ended the class with a survey type activity where the students practiced the phrasing for giving a preference. The students will complete a similar activity on their own during tomorrow's class. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - After the review page of questions, the students reviewed the workbook questions from our previous class and we began working towards the main research question for unit 1 - how did the first societies organise themselves? We started by analysing two photos and those ideas will be used during the next class.

It was spirit day today, a day filled with team building activities and hot dogs. We ended the class with a Terry Fox run. A good day for all.

Le français 7C & 7D - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students played a final round of Qui suis-je? using ideas made by some of their classmates. We had some time to work on the good copy of the Ma famille assignment. Those students who did not finish will need to finish it for homework. We ended the class with an introduction to the second unit on snacks. We are starting to work on how to say what we like and do not like. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We worked on the review page of questions and add to our answers - questions 5 and 6 were completed. The students received a mini lesson on the concept of sources. We identified the two categories of sources and key ideas to help us remember the difference. We worked on questions 8 and 1 in the workbook  to complete the first section of unit 1. 

Les sciences humaines 7D - - We worked on the review page of questions, specifically questions 1 to 4. We then completed a lesson on roman numerals and applied our understanding to two questions in the workbook, questions 6 and 7 on page 9. We ended the class with an activity around sources. The students identified potential sources we could use to support particular events on a timeline. We will need another class to complete this activity.

Le français 7C & 7D - We started the day with a conversation activity using three questions with similar phrasing from previous lessons. We then played a game using the phrases from our phrase wall. We ended the class with a paragraph assignment. The students used their ideas from the family description they had prepared yesterday and put them together in a paragraph. The sample can be found here on this site in the français 7C & 7D section. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We reviewed questions 1 to 8 on the review page of questions. We then completed question 1 on page 8 as we discussed the aspects of societies that we will study this year. We ended the class with some source analyses as we begin studying how the earliest societes organised themselves.

Les sciences humaines 7D - We reviewed our questions on the review page of questions. We then completed a good copy of the Ma ligne du temps assignment. The students received their first draft and were given time to complete a good copy. Time was an issue and we are going to return to this activity tomorrow. We started into the workbook for the first unit and highlighted key information on the concept of history and began answering questions on timelines. We continue this work on timelines tomorrow. 

Le français 7D & 7C - After class evaluations and phrase review, the students participated in a conversation activity using the page of description questions (Est-ce que tu as...Est-ce que tu es...). Then using this information the students began organising information for our next assignment, one where we describe ourselves and our family. I have uploaded the presentation with examples here on this site for those students who were absent. I also reminded the students that they have a video homework to complete - Épisode 1 here on this site! Must be done by Friday morning. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - After some review practice using our review page of questions, the students continued our study of timelines in our workbooks, specifically page 5 and questions 4 and 5 on page 9.

Headline News! We have started collecting for the Terry Fox Run. We have set a goal of 1$ per student and every dollar that is donated receives a ballot for a draw; prizes are some nice Terry Fox Tshirts. I have promised the 7D crew, that every dollar they donate, I will match and add an extra ballot in their name.

Le français 7C & 7D - After our regularly scheduled class evaluations and phrase review, we discussed M. Beaton's website and a future homework activity. We continued our descriptive phrases activity. We worked through a collection of descriptive, personal phrases using visuals to guide our understanding. The handout and the presentation have been added to this site for the students to use. 

Les sciences humaines 7A - We started the class with a review sheet of questions. This will be a very common activity for the remainder of the year. I have uploaded the document to this site for the students to use at home. We then took time to work on our timeline activity and students were given a chance to complete their first draft and begin their good copy. We then discussed their ideas on sources and were introduced to the terms primary source and secondary source. We ended the class by completing our roman numeral competition.

Today's news - We had school photos today. A document was sent home with a QR code and a website where students will be able to access their proofs. Those students who were absent for the photos today will have the opportunity to have their photo taken tomorrow. 

Les sciences humaines 7C - We completed a little review for the terms we've covered so far. We then started into an activity looking into time lines. We were cut short due to school photos. 

Le français 7C & 7D - After our class evaluations and phrase review, the students received a lesson on how to use a French/English dictionary. We will be applying this lesson tomorrow.
