October 13th-16th
Happy Thanksgiving! It was a wonderful weekend to pause, catch up with loved ones, and soak in those quiet, meaningful moments. Here's to carrying that extra bit of gratitude and warmth into the week ahead!
KJ had their picture day last Thursday, and all photos are now available to view and order! A small card was sent home in your child's homework bag with an access code to view their images online. Please let me know if you did not receive yours.
It’s a relatively quiet week in KJ, but we will still be keeping up the hard work and having fun. We are actually very close to reaching our very first class reward! We keep a small jar in the room that we fill with flower tokens whenever someone shows kindness, uses their listening ears, or does something worth celebrating. We only need 4 more tokens, and I'm sure we will hit our goal this week, keep an eye on your inbox for an update on our celebration.
The class has been doing an amazing job adjusting as we introduce new concepts each week. Here is what we're working on this week:
Math: Number 4, shapes
Phonics: Letters C and O
Sight Word: "I"
Important dates:
October 31st - Halloween
As always, stay safe and enjoy your week.
October 5th -9th
It was a beautiful weekend and I hope you all got to enjoy the fresh air 🙂
Last week we were lucky to have the UPEI Nursing Students visit Glen Stewart to put on the Teddy Bear Clinic. All our friends in KJ were able to participate and it was very much enjoyed.
We have a busy week. On Wednesday, it is walk to school day and Thursday is picture day for all Kindergarten English classes. There is no school on Monday the 12th for Thanksgiving Day.
This week we will be talking about Thanksgiving and all the things we have in life that we are thankful for. Additionally, we will be moving on to learning about the number 3. In fundations we will be learning our first vowels u and i. Our sight word this week is can and we'll be practicing throughout the week to recognize and read the words so far introduced.
Have a great week!
Important dates:
October 7th - Walk to School Day
October 8th - Picture day
October 12th - Thanksgiving Day (No School)
September 28th - October 2nd
I hope everyone enjoyed the nice weather this weekend and got outside to enjoy it!
We had a great week last week. This week we are going to start thinking about Autumn and all the fun activties we get to enjoy, the colours we see and the foods we get to eat. On Tuesday, it is Orange Shirt Day, to wear an orange shirt to support Truth and Reconciliation Day. There will also be a school wide bus evacuation on Tuesday.
This week, we will be learning about the letters m and n. The kiddos have been rocking fundations and have done a great job at the letter formations. If you have any extra time in the evening to practice formations and sounds, it's always beneficial 🙂 Our new word this week is see. Again, if you have the time to practice the sight word ring, that would be great! In numeracy were going to be looking at the number 2 and having fun with shapes.
Thank you to everyone who donated money for the Terry Fox Run. A reminder to check and empty homework bags.
I hope you all have a great week ahead.

It was great to see some of you on Wednesday, thank you so much for taking the time and coming in. Last week we had a couple fire drills and the students did great both times. There has been some rainy days and therefor they have had indoor recess, they are expert tidiers and have been following all the expectations.
This week we will be diving into Fundations, now that the orientation is over. Our two letters this week are b and f. I will be sending home a red duotang for the fundations paper that will be put in their homework bags weekly. Please feel free to keep the red duotang at home, somewhere safe as well as the word ring. Our new word this week is the. In numeracy we have been looking at the number 1 and this week we will start working on our shapes.
Friday is the Terry Fox Run, where we will head outside as a class and the students can choose to run or walk a couple laps around the trail at the playground. Here is the link if you would like to donate : https://schools.terryfox.ca/GlenStewartPrimarySchool

Hi families.
I hope everyone had a restful weekend, and the kiddos are ready to get back to KJ tomorrow 😊
We had a great first week. I was very impressed with how fast they are catching onto routines and expectations. We had a practice fire drill on Friday and they did wonderful! We have a couple more coming up.
This week we will be focusing on recognizing and writing their names. We will also be starting Fundations, which is a program designed for students to learn letters, their corresponding sounds and how to form the letters. I will be sending home a small package with further information and some things you can work on at home.
On Wednesday, you are all invited into our classroom for Meet the Teacher. Kindergarten session runs from 6:00-6:15. I am hoping to see you all then.
