Terry Fox School Run 2023

In 1980, Terry Fox faced considerable challenges while running the equivalent of a marathon a day for 143 days during his 3,339 mile Marathon of Hope.  It was all about effort for Terry.  He challenged himself every day with one goal in mind: raise the most money he could to end cancer.  Now it's Glen Stewart Primary School's turn.

On Friday, Sept. 22 the students of Glen Stewart Primary School will be walking and running around the school playground in memory of Terry Fox.  We are asking students to make a small donation of a twoonie or a loonie to help raise money for Terry's cause.  Students can bring donations to their classroom teacher or families can make a donation directly to the Terry Fox Foundation on our school link.

International Walk to School Day

International Walk to School Day is an annual event supported by the Town of Stratford and Glen Stewart Primary School. It is a mass celebration of physical activity and active transportation.

The general themes that are promoted during International Walk to School Day include: increasing daily physical activity, improving safety, enhancing the environment, developing community cohesion, promoting social interaction and reducing traffic congestion, pollution and speed near schools.

To celebrate this day, Glen Stewart Primary School will be a hosting a walk to school day on Wednesday, October 4th.  A rain date will be planned for the following day, Thursday, Oct. 5th.   Students and families who would like to participate in this event are to meet at the Stratford Town Hall by 7:35 a.m. with a departure at 7:45 a.m. sharp.

We are asking parent(s) and /or guardians to join their child on the walk. Parking will be available at the town hall. Families will gather on the trail adjacent to Shakespeare Dr. across from the the Stratford Town Hall. There will be additional chaperones joining us on the walk. There will also be volunteers that will be helping students to cross both Shakespeare Dr. and Glen Stewart Dr. Refreshments will be provided to all participants at the end of the walk.  This will be made available in the gym.  Please enter the school through the main doors.
