Copy of letter Louise to parents sept 8, 2021

Dear Parents-

Hi! My name is Louise MacGregor and I am pleased to be your child’s grade 3 teacher for the 2021-22 school year. You can contact me on the “Contact Me” page of my Google Site. This site is posted on the Sherwood School website under “Learning Resources”, then “Teacher Sites”

I just wanted to provide a bit of information before your child starts school on Wednesday, September 8th, to ensure a successful first day and to make students and parents aware of some changes in Covid protocol from the 2021-22 school year. Please keep in mind that PEI is currently considered to be in a “low risk” stage and that protocols are subject to change should our risk level increase.

COVID PROTOCOLS

  • Students are required to wear masks when travelling on the bus, when transitioning in the hallways (going in and out to recess, or in and out from the school bus) and when working in groups in the classroom.

  • Your child will belong to a particular cohort this year - Mme Gillan is our cohort. This means that this year, students will have to play on assigned parts of the playground within a particular cohort.

  • Students will still be required to disinfect their hands before eating, and upon entering and exiting the classroom and disinfect desks after eating.

  • If possible, please send two masks each day - one your child will wear on the bus/until arrival in the classroom and an “extra” in a paper, cloth or Ziplock bag in case the first gets lost or soiled at school.

FIRST DAY INFORMATION

  • This year, students will be able to go to their former Grade 2 classrooms upon arrival. However, parents won’t be able to come into the school with their children.

  • All of your child’s belongings should be clearly labeled, which includes clothing and sneakers. I don’t know yet if we will be able to have lost and found boxes this year but having labels on belongings means those items often make their way back to their owners.

I invite you to explore the “Parent Portal” of my Google Site. If you mouse over the words “Parent Portal”, you will see a down arrow. Clicking the arrow will activate a further drop down menu with helpful links I’ve put together. Communication this year will occur through the parent portal, mass e-mails and soon, via weekly parent newsletters.

I’m really looking forward to meeting your children!

Louise MacGregor
