Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fabulous week away year 4 have had with their teachers enjoying PGL Windmill Hill site. They enjoyed zip wire, aero ball, raft building, canoeing and many more activities. Thank you to our teachers who gave up their evenings this week to accompany the children on the school trip.
It is very exciting this term as Mrs Healy and I have been meeting our brilliant PTA members to plan our new school playground. Thank you for your efforts in supporting the PTA at the events they organise. The money raised makes a huge difference.
We would like to include just a couple of safety reminders in this week's newsletter. Please do not stop outside school in cars to drop children off. This endangers children who are crossing the road with our lovely lollipop lady. Please allow enough time if you are driving to park and walk back to the school.
Please support your children to behave responsibly in the park and recreation ground. We would ask that parents talk to their children about behaviour in the park before and after school. We have reports of children sitting on top of a shed in the rec ground and would ask that if your child is walking to school or home from school you speak to them about how to keep themselves safe in the park. Children wearing the Dundonald uniform are expected to be ready, respectful and safe on the way to and from school.
Year 6 are incredibly excited to be out of school next week for many exciting activities. We hope they enjoy their week of activities organised by the year 6 team.
We are closed to pupils next Friday the 26th of May as we have a school Inset day

Please remember to email the office before midday if your child's collection arrangements will be different to usual, even if it is another family member collecting them from school so that teachers know that they can release the child. If you have an emergency change to collection after midday, please email and call the office to ensure the message can be passed on in time.

The London Children's Practice are offering online training for parents ' Helping Children Succeed with Handwriting'. This will support with understanding typical challenges and general strategies that will help all children succeed with handwriting.
Please register through the link on the attached flyer, they will be delivering this via Microsoft Teams. This will be presented online as a live webinar, however, they will not be sending out recorded copies.

They will be offering three whole class sessions to support confident transitions and to help worries as they prepare to move to secondary school. This term, you can join the ‘Worry Ninja Parent Workshop’ to think about how you can support your child’s confidence and help with any worries as they move to secondary school. On Tuesday this week, R1 went on a hunt for invertebrates at Morden Hall Park! The children had lots of fun learning all about these special kinds of small creatures that have no back bones. We looked under logs, used nets to sweep some of the plants and we found so many different Minibeasts. Afterwards, we enjoyed our packed lunches in the sunshine and had a little play in the adventure playground. Thank you to all the parent/carer volunteers who helped make the trip such a success!

In Year 2 we have been drawing shells using different mark making techniques, this we we used oil pastels and drew abstract shells. They were so colourful and beautiful and we were very proud of them!
Last week Year 3 went on a trip to Bushy Park to do some orienteering and map work. They learned a lot!
This half term we have been working as teams to create a fully functional product to help people read in the dark. This has incorporated their learning in science on electrical circuits, and also used the responses from their market research to design a product specifically for a target audience.

As part of the King's Coronation celebrations, the Eco Warriors went on a litter pick around the MUSA and school playground. They worked incredibly hard to make the outside area spotless ready for our whole school Coronation parade - well done everyone!

Hi everyone!
On the 8th of July, I am going to be doing a charity boxing match!
(I know, what was I thinking).
I have never boxed before, so the whole process should be an interesting one. I will have 8 weeks of training before getting beaten up in the ring by a total stranger in the name of charity. I am extremely excited about it but, understandably, am also extremely nervous!
Cancer Research is a charity that is close to everyone's hearts. 1 in 2 people get cancer in their lives, which means it is highly likely that each and every one of us know someone that has been affected by it. So I would love for you to sponsor my fight, and help the fight against it!
In addition to this, I am also raising money for a local homeless charity called ‘Faith in Action, Merton’. Faith in Action is a charity that I am extremely passionate about, and it would absolutely make my year should I raise the £1000 goal. It is a local charity, who supports homeless and vulnerable people in Merton. I would love for you to donate what you can to Faith in Action, who support not just local rough sleepers in Merton, but people who are at risk of losing their homes in the hopes of preventing the issue before it arises.
Everyone matters, and everyone deserves a home.

Reuben in 5M ran his first organised 5K run last Sunday morning in Richmond Park. He was the youngest one there and did it in just under 30 mins. Fantastic running!
