Color Guard is defined as a uniformed group in JROTC who presents the colors, The U.S and Texas flag, at football games, parade and any ceremonial occasions. To every school Color Guard might only be a Special Team but here in Horizon High School JROTC Color Guard we are dedicated, united family. Every cadet is eager to attend to Color Guard practice right after school because there's always something new for them to learn. Some of our equipment consists of sabers, M1 Grand, and flags.
Armed drill is a competition team that goes to many events. We go to NMMI, UTEP, and Amigos. We also go to schools like DHE and FME, also we support our veterans by participating in the veterans day parade and going to the local veterans home. But more than that we are a family.
Cadet Challenge is a team who instills discipline and teaches how to overcome challenges. In this team our main focus is to better our physical abilities in order to excel at competitions. Our practices push our cadets physical and mental limits.
I hope that throughout the year we grow as a team and as friends and finally
TO BRING A TROPHY HOME
Air Rifle is the team where cadets learn to shoot either an air rifle or a pneumatic rifle in three different stances, standing, kneeling, and prone. This team requires all of its members to be completely disciplined since the rifles are dangerous can can harm people.
In order to join this team you must first pass a test with a perfect score and learn all the rules before being allowed to handle and shoot the rifle.
