Under SB 12, parents can choose to opt their child out of:
Guidance lessons that cover social and emotional skills (like self-awareness, relationships, conflict resolution, decision-making, and self-management).
Brief School counseling services for social, emotional, or behavioral support (even if requested by the student, teacher, or administrator).
If parents opt out, the school cannot provide these services. Instead, parents will be called to come to school to support their child so they can return to learning.
