When applying for a Kentucky Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapons license, there are two different options:
- Apply online through Kentucky State Police website (usually takes less than 2 weeks)
- Read the Legal Handout which can be found here: Kentucky State Police Legal Handout
- Go to the Kentucky State Police CCDW Portal and follow the steps to register and apply for a new license: KSP CCDW Portal
- You will need a scanned copy of your Training certificate, a photo of you (Head-shot only) similar to a drivers license photo. Nothing covering your head or face.
- Cost will be $50 payable by credit/debit card.
- Once approved ( usually within a couple week days) you will receive an email and/or a letter in the mail saying you are approved and can pick up your license at the Sheriff's office. You will need a check or money order made payable to the Sheriff of your county for $20 (CAN NOT BE CASH)
- Apply at the Sheriff's Office in the county you live in (usually 60-90 days)
- Take training certificate and a passport style photo to the Sheriff office in the County you live in.
- Take TWO checks:
- One for $40 made payable to the Kentucky State Police
- One for $20 made payable to the Sheriff in your county
- Once approved, you will receive a letter in the mail saying you are approved and can pick up your license at the Sheriff's office.
