Health & Physical Education/Weight Training Outline
We will have Health & PE Classes on a 1 week rotation throughout the year. Our units will cover the Essential Standards for Health and Physical Education. Participation will be vital in achieving a successful Health & Physical Education experience. Our objective is to introduce students to engaging activities that will result in physical active lifestyles and making healthy decisions.
Health Curriculum
Our Health program consists of 3 topic areas: Physical, Emotional/Mental, and Social. Each of the areas will be addressed in our 5 curriculum units which are as follows:
Mental and Emotional Health
Personal Consumer Health
Nutrition and Physical Activity
Alcohol, Nicotine, Cannabis, and Other Drugs
Interpersonal Communication and Relationships
P.E. & Weight Training Curriculum
The Physical Education program requires that 6th - 8th graders participate in the following concepts:
Individual Sports
Partner Sports
Team Sports
Personal Fitness
*The Weight & Strength Training class focuses on the importance of weight room etiquette such as safety, proper technique, the components of fitness, and pre & post workout routines.
