Pearl Export Series 5-piece drum set
By Henry Butia
This 5 piece drum set is perfect for a beginner-intermediate drummer, and perfect for a touring drummer. The set is easy to transport, has a great sound, and is easy to take down and put back together. I’ve been using this set for about 1 ½ years now, and it is a great choice considering the price and my skill level.

Drums and Hardware
The drum shells are made of Mahogany and Poplar along with chromed steel gearless hardware. With 10” and 12” toms, a 16” floor tom, 14” snare, 22” bass drum, and bass pedal, this set comes with everything but the symbols. The hardware isn't the most stable with a large ride and crash, but smaller versions of the 2 are pretty sturdy. The hardware included is very easy to adjust, with gearless movement. Hardware, especially the bass drum and floor tom legs, aren't the most durable, but are passable. A double bass pedal does not stay solitary, but rather moves around, especially when playing hard or fast.
Sound and Performance
This drum set sounds great. The snare has a good sound and the toms sound deep and loud. Everything, excluding the cymbal stands, are stable for the most part. The only thing that could be improved are the legs on the toms and bass drums, and the cymbal stands.. They tend to bend more easily than others, and become loose and twist a lot. Setup is fairly easy, and takedown is also fairly quick. I do recommend transporting in padded boxes or something similar, as the shells of the drums tend to dent easier than others.
Pros and Cons
Pros
Easy to set up
Cheap
Good for gigs and events
Cons
Hardware is not as durable
Weak drum shells
Hardware unstable
Interchangeable Components
Along with whatever cymbals you want, you can interchange the bass pedal. With my set, I have a Pearl P2052dD Eliminator double bass pedal. The hi-hat stand legs that come with the set are not very compatible with this double pedal, as the legs block the left pedal from being next to the hi-hat pedal. As the hi-hat pedal is farther from the left double bass pedal, it makes it harder to play bass drum heavy songs, like Lux Æterna by Metallica, or your original song. As stated earlier, the pedal moves around a lot.

Final Verdict
This drum set is very reasonable for the beginner or touring drummer. Easy to transport, good sound, and with the right cymbals and bass kick pedal, this set can sound clean and professional. It is perfect for anyone.
