Entry Restrictions and Quarantine Measures for COVID-19 in Taiwan

(Entry restrictions and quarantine measures will be adjusted on a rolling basis depending on the status of the pandemic and effectiveness of those measures.)

Before Departure

  • In response to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, COVID-19 RT-PCR test reports required for inbound passengers must be issued within two days which is based on specimen collection date. The collection date must be within two days of arrival.

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that Starting 00:00 on January 4, 2022 (departure date), the period of a COVID-19 RT-PCR test report required for inbound passengers prior to boarding will be changed to "two days," which will be calculated based on the "specimen collection date" ; the newly revised two-day period will be based on the incoming flight's scheduled departure time at the place of departure, that is, counting two calendar days backwards from the incoming flight's scheduled departure time (excluding the flight date). Passengers are urged to ensure their COVID-19 RT-PCR test report meets the above-mentioned requirements before boarding.

  • Comply with border control and quarantine measures imposed by the local government.

  • Arrange quarantine accommodation before travelling and state meeting the requirements by making the affidavits on the Quarantine System for Entry.

Arriving at Taoyuan Airport

  • All the students following the entry project must arrive at Taoyuan Airport.

  • Use your mobile phone to log into the Quarantine system for Entry when checking in or prior to boarding. Turn on your phone after arriving in Taiwan, and an electronic health declaration receipt will be sent to your phone via text message.

  • Students must buy the prepaid sim card (validity at least 30 days) after arriving at the border control area.

  • Students must have a Taiwan mobile phone number to make a health declaration, receive an electronic health declaration receipt, and carry out digital tracking and follow-up care at the community level (one student one phone).

      • If not, students can make the declaration with the roaming number at the place of departure. Once arrived in Taiwan, students need to purchase a SIM card from a Taiwan telecom service provider at the airport of arrival and install it before entering the country.

  • It is recommended to have approximately NTD7,000~10,000 when travelling to Taiwan. This includes the NTD1,000 SIM Card, the transportation fee to the Quarantine Facility, 2nd RT-PCR test related fee and the transportation fee from the Quarantine Facility to the local premises.

Three Steps to comply with COVID-19 Preventions Regulations

Step 1: Get Ready for the Admission Letter Application!

  1. Apply for the admission letter! Please make sure you have the latest admission letter on hand.

  2. TKUCLC will apply for the visa application permit through the MOE system and provide you with the MOE approved number by email once approved.

  • If you receive the latest admission letter, please wait for our notification.
  • Receiving the admission letter doesn't mean the approval the Entry Visa.

Step 2: Complete the Pre-Departure Procedures!

  1. Apply for the Entry Visa.

  2. Complete the payment in advance:

  • the six-month tuition fee NTD50,000

  • the quarantine facility fee NTD23,100 (this price may slightly change depending on the quarantine facility fee, approximately NTD2,100~NTD2,500 * 11DAYS)

  • Total: NTD73,100

  1. Book the flight and arrange the local housing during 7-day self-health management.

※ The quarantine facility during the 10-day quarantine period will be booked and arranged by TKUCLC.

  1. Upload information and documents

After receiving the documents above, TKUCLC will apply for Overseas Student Entry Permit Certificate with MOE, and provide you with the scanned file of Overseas Student Entry Permit Certificate.

  1. Get all the required documents ready. Due to Covid-19, please bring NTD7,000~NTD10,000 cash with you when entering Taiwan, and be ready for boarding!

Step 3: Complete the Quarantine + Self-Health Management

Stay in the quarantine facility for 10 days as per regulation.

Plus 7 days for self-health management at your local housing.

After 10+7 days, you are welcome to join our IN-PERSON Chinese classes!

  • The quarantine facility during the quarantine period will be booked and arranged by TKUCLC.

  • Students MUST stay in the Quarantine Facilities for the quarantine period.

  • During the quarantine period and self-health management, students MUST report their conditions to TKUCLC every day, and the data will be sent to the quarantine tracking system.

  • If the classes start during the quarantine period and self-health management, TKUCLC will provide with online classes.
