AP Art History is a college-level Humanities course that explores Art, Cultures and Religions from around the world.
This course welcomes students into the Global Art world to engage with its forms and content as they research, discuss, read, and write about Art, artists, and Art making.
Students will learn about diverse artistic traditions from prehistory to the present. Students develop an in-depth, holistic understanding of the history of art from a global perspective, investigating cultures, mythologies, world religions and influences throughout the world of Art. Students learn and apply skills of visual, contextual, and comparative analysis to engage with a variety of art forms, developing an understanding of individual works and interconnections across history.
Arts and Culture field trips are offered each semester to reinforce real world connections to the content. We will visit several museums in San Francisco.
Art skill is not required, all art projects are designed to suit all skill levels.
International trips: Here's a photo of me with some students on a trip to Rome. For Spring Break in 2026, I'm taking students to Spain! Spaces are still available.
About me: For those I haven't met yet, I love to travel! This is one of my favorite quotes: "We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.”
Many of the artworks I will teach you, I have seen, and they are like old friends. I am excited to introduce you to each of them. Many others, I have yet to see, and I long to visit them, as I hope you will too after completing this course.
My passion is taking learning to a higher level and making real-life connections. Art History is my absolute favorite class to teach, and I put my heart and soul into making it engaging and fun. I hope that each of you welcomes the challenge of this AP class with excitement and dedication. I promise you it will pay off! Have a wonderful summer, and I will see you all in August!
This is just a small collection of some of the images we will learn about.
You will get to make your own list of favorites over the course of this class.
Here's to an amazing year ahead!
