Part of being a Wydown Greyhound is working for equity, empathy, and social justice in our school and our community. The Social Justice Book Club will read from both fiction and non-fiction literature in order to engage in productive dialogue, better understand bias and inequity, and learn how to advocate and take action against it. Each month we will read one to two novels and discuss the author's influences and their connections to current events. We will have a Literacy Salon-style meeting for the book at the last meeting of the month. This club is open to all students and faculty.
We will meet in room 219 (Mrs. LaPierre's room in the 7 East wing). The first meeting of each month we will introduce the new book and spend meetings reading, talking, and learning. The last meeting of each month will be held in the style of a Literary Salon for students and faculty to grow through discussion.
