Hello! I'm Mrs. Day, and I'm the Orchestra teacher at Wydown! My husband, Colin, and I have two amazing kids named Ryan (6 1/2) and Leyna (2 1/2). This is my sixth year at Wydown and my 14th year teaching. I have my Bachelor's in Music Education from The Ohio State University, and my Master's in Music for Conducting from Webster University. When I'm not teaching or playing with my kids, you can usually find me knitting, sewing, taking photos, gardening, or playing violin in my quartet for fun!

I LOVE teaching middle school orchestra. My goal is for the kids to learn to truly enjoy and appreciate music, while building life-skills along the way. In orchestra students learn to set high standards, diagnose problems in their playing, and figure out the best way to solve them. At Wydown, we also put a lot of emphasis on playing together as an ensemble.

I know that not every student will leave our program to become a professional musician (although many have!), but I hope that they can take the love of music with them wherever they do go in life.

This year, the 7th and 8th grade orchestras will be assisted by Daniel Henderson, and then 6th grade orchestras will be assisted by Monica Holy. Our program would not be possible without all of the help that they provide, along with Mariana Wood!
