Hello! I'm Mrs. Day, and I'm the Orchestra teacher at Wydown! My husband, Colin, and I have two amazing kids named Ryan (9 1/2) and Leyna (5 1/2) and two Corgis named Brie and Rogi. This is my 9th year at Wydown and my 17th year teaching. I have my Bachelor's in Music Education from The Ohio State University, and my Master's in Music for Conducting from Webster University. When I'm not teaching or playing with my kids, you can usually find me knitting, sewing, taking photos, gardening, or playing violin in my quartet for fun!
I LOVE teaching middle school orchestra. My goal is for the kids to learn to truly enjoy and appreciate music, while building life-skills along the way. In orchestra students learn to set high standards, diagnose problems in their playing, and figure out the best way to solve them. At Wydown, we also put a lot of emphasis on playing together as an ensemble.
I know that not every student will leave our program to become a professional musician (although many have!), but I hope that they can take the love of music with them wherever they do go in life.
